So it's not that your really for Miller's Crossing, as much as you are against Goodfellas?

Absolutely. I have not even seen Miller's Crossing, but from Surfer's description, it sounds awesome.

I'm glad my thoughts have had an impact, Geez. Hopefully one day you can find a copy and experience the masterpiece for yourself.

I hope so, the first chance I get I will be sure to. That said, I will pick Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the full year poll.

Thanks, geez. I've actually been a little reluctant to speak my voice about Goodfellas, but I pretty much echo your thoughts to the letter. I'm pretty much not a fan of the whole New York/Italian/Sicilian mob drama genre as a whole. I mean, I can appreciate the Godfather movies as a work of cinema, but they're really not entertaining viewing for me. Never have been. And 45 minutes of Goodfellas was really all I could stand.

Would anyone be aggrieved if I gave this round to Miller's Crossing. the run off has been up for a while and I don't see any more votes coming.
EDIT: I guess somebody minds....

Woohooo!!! I finally have some support in this!!! Everything you said that I didn't already say in my previous post, I agree with. Definitely not a fan of the Italian mob drama.

One of us should invite our newest regular in for the tiebreaker vote.

I'm happy with whichever one wins because I like them both a great deal. I think 'Miller's Crossing' is tremendously under-rated and it's fair to remind everyone that when these two faced off initially it got devoured by 'Goodfellas.' 'Goodfellas' is Scorsese's best film IMHO and I can't watch it without moving directly to 'Casino' as a follow-up. I voted for "Miller's" in both votes so far. If 'Goodfellas' wins then it'll get my vote for the rest of this year.

It was worth it to log in just so I could put Goodfellas over the top.
The gangster genre has been done to death, but Goodfellas and the first two Godfathers stand above the rest.

Ok, I'll give this to Goodfellas, though Miller's Crossing did put up a good fight.

I nominate La Femme Nikita and one of the wife and I's favourite guilty pleasures: Sleeping With The Enemy. Though Silence should win this round no problem.

I hated Turtles II, but whatever. I think we know SOTL will win, but I nominate:
King Ralph (still makes me laugh... one of John G's best)
New Jack City
The Doors
(I'm tempted to nomiate Oscar, but I know damn well I'm the only one outside of Sly's family who actually liked that film, so I'll beg off this time.)

Oscar opened in April 1991.
Meanwhile, I'll second The Doors and New Jack City.

Can I call this for Edward Scissorhands? We don't usually get more than 11 votes and I want as many rounds complete before I leave, so I'll give this half an hour unless anyone has strong objections before putting up the next poll.
