If a role is perfect for someone, then its perfect and can't be surpassed by anyone else's perfect role.
There was a thread where last week a few people said they thought that Spider-Man 2 was the best comic book film until TDK came along.
I think Hellboy's a great film. Decent plot, decent love story sub-plot, great effects, and Perlman's great performance put it over the top for me. I loved it. I'd much rather see a third Hellboy than a fourth Spider-Man.

Re: Overrated/Underrated
How is the Haunting in Connecticut overrated? I'm pretty sure the consensus there is that its a fairly average movie. Unless, I guess you feel that is overrating it.

That's all you need to see. It would be one of my Overrated movies. I preferred several 80's teen movies to it.

Disagree and Agree. I loved the Graduate. Downfall is on of my top 25 ever.

Maybe he does. Giving that movie an average score might be overrating it. LOL
Spider-Man 2 is the 2nd or 3rd best Superhero movie of all time. Iron Man is better and TDK when I ignore the Batman's throat cancer. LOL
My addition to the subject.
Overrated: Titanic, obviously.
Underrated: Conan the Barbarian
Overrated: T2 (oh man am I going to get hate mail from this)
Underrated: Below
Re: Overrated/Underrated
The Haunting in Connecticut was one of those films I didn't want to see, was dragged to, and thought was one of those surprising films that was great if you never, EVER watch it again since your expectations were so low going into it.
I gave it an 8, though if I ever see it again, I'll probably be forced to move it down to a 6.
From 1994:
Overrated: Clerks
Underrated: The Scout, Surviving the Game

That movie was terrible. I hate bad gimmicky endings that make absolutely no sense and completely make the plotline usless. One of the worst horror movies I have ever seen.
Overrated: Scarface (it was a decent gangster film and nothing more, no idea why it is so popular)
Underrated: Way of the Gun (I never even heard of this movie until a friend saw it at random)

The only thing I didn't like about it is that the kid was supposed to be dying of cancer, but he looks like some sort of athlete in peak condition during most of the film.
1999
Overrated: Being John Malkovich, The Blair Witch Project (when it came out, I think most people have came to their senses... maybe not)
Underrated: Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, The Hurricane

I think Scarface is huge now because rap guys think it's awesome to be him...I guess they missed like the last half of the movie...
I remember getting into Way of the Gun when it was in theaters. I found out it was the writer of Usual Suspects and was all over it...one of the best lines ever "Shut that cunt's mouth before I go over there and fuckstart her head"...hardcore shit.
There was a great line at the end of that scene in the script that didn't make it to the movie. It was part of the VO and said something like "if you can't win in a situation, at least take all the joy out of winning for the other guy"...

Overrated: Iron Man (it was good, but i never thought it 'great' like everyone else, the villain was boring as hell. Could i add that Robert Downy Jr is overrated too or would that be blasphemy?)
Underrated: Hellboy II (too bad that it got overshadowed by TDK the way it did, What was Universal thinking releasing it just a week before)

Hey, I like Scarface. Pacino makes you--or at least me--forget that he's Italian. I think its very clever using the Mariel Boat Lift to tell what used to be a purely Italian + Chicago/New York genre. Gangsters can like it all they want. It's a good movie with a great performance IMO.

Re: Overrated/Underrated
I dont think Harry Potter can be counted as underrated. They are usually in the top 5 money makers of the year. UNless you just think they are so great, that even though they are liked they should be loved more.

Underrated: The Outlaw Josey Wales
I liked them both quite a bit but GBU is at a 9.0 imdb and Josey is a 7.8. No f'ing way.
