Overrated/Underrated

OK, so first you name a movie you feel is overrated and then one you feel is underrated. You can list your explanations if you'd like, but you don't have to. And remember that saying a movie is overrated doesn't mean it's bad, just that it's not as good as the hype. You can list actors and actresses too if you want.

I'll start it off:

Overrated: Pulp Fiction
Underrated: Minority Report

Overrated: Juno
Underrated: Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story

Overrated: Donnie Darko
Underrated: John Q.

Over-rated: The Godfather
Underrated: Titan A.E.

Over-rated: Slumdog Millionare
Under-rated: School Ties

No, you can do as many as you like.

And what's up with most of guys not liking Slumdog Millionaire? Other than some of the "coincidences", I think it is a flawless movie.

Overrated: Children of Men
Underrated: Crash (2005)

Overrated: Crash
Underrated: Orange County

Overrated: Shakespeare In Love
Underrated: Quills

Overrated: Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels (I couldn't get through it)
Underrated: Freddy Got Fingered (There is literally nothing like it)

And I haven't seen Crash (its on the list), but how can it be overrated if it won the Best Picture Oscar?

??? Wanted is/was overly hyped to the point where you thought you were getting some kind of masterpiece. I don't understand how that could be underrated.

Overrated: The Strangers
Underrated: Cadillac Records

The worst film from last year that I've seen so far is Max Payne... But everyone agrees that it was horrible.

You don't remember when it came out? People were like, "This is one of the best action films I've ever seen!" It had a 72% fresh rating on RT. Nominated for two Oscars. It had like an 8 rating when it first came to theaters...

I absolutely remember when it came out. Folks either loved it or hated it, and the farther removed we get from it, the more folks seem to be sliding to the "Hated it" side.

I don't know anyone who hated Wanted.

Thanks, Banks, that was my point... I didn't hate it, just didn't like it and thought it was overhyped and in no way could be underrated because of that just like I didn't think that a film that won the Best Picture Oscar could be underrated because it was named the best picture of the year.
