Re: Best Films of The 2000's NOMINATIONS PAGE [Oct-Dec 2008 Nominations Open]
I love the debate of The Illusionist vs. The Prestige. Everyone always compares them and they always love one and hate the other. Its just fascinating. Two films, same general topic, but they must be made so differently that they get such strong reactions towards them. I have not personally seen the Illusionist, partly because of this. I absolutely loved the Prestige, and most people who did love it, have hated the Illusionist, and vice versa. I can't come up with any other film pairing where this exact scenario exists. Its crazy.
Re: Best Films of The 2000's NOMINATIONS PAGE [Oct-Dec 2008 Nominations Open]
I am your odd man then Geez. I liked both films although I think The Prestige was the better of the two. It would be hard to top since I thought Prestige was f'n brilliant. Bowie as Tesla = perfection.

I haven't seen the Illusionist or the Prestige...but I think I have a copy of one around here somewhere that I borrowed. The one with Christian Bale. I think it's the Prestige.
Oh, and I second Little Miss Sunshine and Idiocracy.

Although I prefer Volver, I definitely recognise Tideland as a very good movie. It took a couple of watches to truly get it, but it is very fascinating. And evne then, I don't regret nominating it, rather, I regret that no-one saw fit to second Volver....
