Players should be allowed to change their slates until the actual deadline?
Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
Going by the poll, I'd say yes. I think anyone who wants to change their slates has 2 weeks to do so, but after that the movies are set. That is, unless, Delfy thinks otherwise.

You're right... Going by the poll, you can change your movies until 1st of February... That's what the majority decided... undeadmonkey, have you been influenced by anyone?
Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
ha ha, no. I'm actually pretty confident with my choices. I was just curious if we could

I'm keeping my list...that's what made it so interesting last year. I loved watching in furious disbelief at Speed Racer's under20mil OW last year and am wondering which of my picks will crash and burn this time around.

From your list, I'd say Angels and Demons (which coincidentally is on my list...). Star Trek is a bit of a wild card too, will it become popular this time around, with JJ in charge, or will it be another movie just for Trekkies....

This argument has been had before...but I think J.J.'s marketing savvy will help him get the audience in AND that the film itself might actually be good enough to bring them back.

This is going to be a good year, lots of sequels and lots of possible surprise films. I'm still thinking maybe I could add in a couple films here or there. I don't know. It looks like it will be huge like 2007.

Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
It's harder then last year, when I had a short list of 12 movies. Of course that I didn't choose Twilight 'cause I didn't realize its success. I thought of 120-max. 150 MM USD... It's a very hard work to choose this year... My short list consists in 20 movies and now, after the sure release of Watchmen, I could not eliminate a single movie ) ONLY 10 days to go!
Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
hmmm, interesting move:
sourceSony's Columbia Pictures is delaying the release of Roland Emmerich's 2012 from July 10 to Nov. 13, two weekends before the lucrative Thanksgiving session.
Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
Can you say flop of the Thanksgiving season? Especially with other potential blockbusters opening on the same month, even on the same day (it faces Sherlock Holmes and I believe The Wolf Man that day).

Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
Okay gang, this is my first foray in the Super Contest so I'm just going to wing it.
1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

6. Night at the Museum 2
7. Monster Vs. Aliens
8. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
9. Watchmen
10. Star Trek
Total 2.35 Billion
Don't tell the wife I left New Moon off the list.
1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
2. Transformers 2
3. Up
4. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
5. Terminator Salvation
6. Night at the Museum 2
7. Monster Vs. Aliens

Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
For the life of me, I cannot remember if I entered this contest already or not... if I did, let the following list supersede my previous one. I'm predicting the Top 10 money earners of the year, right?
1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
2. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
3. Wolverine
4. Terminator: Salvation
5. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
6. Up
7. Monsters vs. Aliens
8. Watchmen
9. Avatar
All of these are pretty understandable picks, but I have to throw a flyer in there. I don't think Star Trek, Museum 2 or Da Vinci Code 2 will make the Top 10, so for me it's a choice between Public Enemies, Sherlock Holmes, The Fantastic Mr. Fox or Planet 51. Given that November often tends to be more potent than December when it comes to films cracking $150 million, I'll give the #10 spot to:
10. The Fantastic Mr. Fox
Wes Anderson, George Clooney AND an 11/6 release date? Can't pass that up.
God help me, if Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel breaks $200 million...
Total $2.35 billion
1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
2. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
3. Wolverine
4. Terminator: Salvation
5. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
6. Up
7. Monsters vs. Aliens
8. Watchmen
9. Avatar

Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
Ooo, that's quite the risk with Mr Fox, Shryke, I've been tracking this film for a while, mostly because I think it's a good opportunioty for Anderson to get out of the same style and tone he's been doing for the past few years. But, I don't think this will translate well with kids, it may be the wrong side of ironic for them. Clooney will mean litle as a voice- remember, it's not the stars that sell animation films.

Remember that Fantastic Mr. Fox is facing another animated film, Jim Carrey in Robert Zemeckis's A Christmas Carol, on the same day. And A Christmas Carol will be in 3-D and IMAX.

Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
Okay, I had realised I made a mistake with my last predictions, forgetting that the year did not end on 31st December, and so omitting movies which I did not believe would make the top 10. My following is, hopefully, the definitive list:
1. Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen
2. Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince
3. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
4. Avatar
5. Up
6. Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
7. Star Trek
8. Watchmen
9. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
10. Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakeul
Oh, how it graves me to put Alvin on here.....
1. Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen
2. Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince
3. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
4. Avatar
5. Up
6. Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
7. Star Trek
8. Watchmen
9. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
10. Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakeul

I have a feeling the sequel will do far less than the original...But I had a feeling the original would make MAYBE $50 mil., so what do I know?

Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
I have finalized my top 10. Here it is. Hoping I can improve on my third place from this year!
1. Transformers 2
2. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
3. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
4. Terminator Salvation
5. Up
6. Night at the Museum 2
7. Ice Age 3
8. Angels and Demons
9. Watchmen
10. Avatar
2.335 billon dollars
Had Alvin in there until today, but I just had to put my faith in Watchmen. Angels and Demons moved up a couple spots because it has its date all to itself now.
Good luck everyone!
Edit: Just checked them all, and I have the same ten as Number 6 and Super Shaan. Looks like the order will actually come into play, assuming we are in contention for the top spot.
