Re: The "Harry Potter 6 Will Outgross Transformers 2" Club
Hrm. Let's review:
Transformers 2: Transform Harder has $367M in the bank, on its way to at least $390M. Meanwhile, alone among films in the Top 20, Half-Blood Prince actually LOST ground from Monday to Tuesday.
At this point, it seems EXCEEDINGLY -- ridiculously, even -- likely the Top 5 films of 2009 will be, at the end of the day (year):
[1] Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen;
[2] 2012;
[3] Up;
[4] The Hangover; and
[5] Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince...
...With Avatar, Sherlock Holmes and perhaps even Fame having an outside chance at cracking the over-$250M mark. And January favorites Star Trek, Monsters Vs. Aliens, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Angels & Demons, Terminator Salvation, and, yes, Watchmen, despite all having earned $100M+, all on the outside looking in.
Not to mention, Bruno.
I still stand by my original predictions (from way back on June 14) of $405M for T2 and $340M for HP6. Although, truth be told, Harry may actually end up well short of $300M... Not exactly a just reward for the film I personally consider to be second-best in the franchise (behind only Azkaban and ever-so-slightly ahead of Goblet)...
But, hey, like I say. When life hands you lemons... throw 'em at someone.

Re: The "Harry Potter 6 Will Outgross Transformers 2" Club
Fame making over $250M?!?!?! That's as far-fetched as anything, even the highest grossing dance movie (Save The Last Dance) couldn't crack $100M. And while the remake angle may help it a bit, I'm highly doubting it'll get anything over $70M, and I'll Youtube myself cutting my balls off if it hits $250M.
And I don't think 2012 will be in the Top 5, but I guess it has a chance.
And I'm still holding out that HP6 will have great legs and get close to Tf2.

2012 won't hit even $100 million. Hell, it won't pass 10,000 B.C.'s numbers.
My best guess for 2012 is $65 million. Total.

2012 will hit $100 million. How much higher I don't know. Probably $140 million. As for Harry Potter, I think it is probably going to get pushed over $300 million.
