Re: The Poker Thread
What's ridiculous is people complaining by saying "This site cheats." Cheats for who? The people that don't play the odds will lose the most in the long run. If you play enough it'll all average out...

Re: The Poker Thread
I think you've just gotta find a site that's good for you. My brother was playing on PokerStars and couldn't win shit, he switched to Full Tilt and now he's pulling in major money. Not even on tourneys, just cash games.
But what's a good day to have our game? I think I'd be free most week-nights.

11:00 or Midnight is usually good for me. Why not just post on this thread when you jump on PStars, FT, or TripleJack and we can find each other that way? You obviously have to post your name as well.

I'm on PokerStars as CKEdison, but I only play for free until I get paid in the next few weeks.

Re: The Poker Thread
just to get things rolling, i'll set up a table at TripleJack on Monday night at 10:30pm CST... go ahead and download the software in advance (trust me, it's safe)... i'll name the table: "Fantasy Moguls -- 1030pm CST" or something like that

This is what happens on 99.9% of the hands:
1. I get crap and fold
2. I got a good hand and bet, and don't hit.
3. I get a good hand, hit top pair, and lose to a higher pocket pair.
4. I get a great hand and win, but everyone else folds pre-flop.
I've been in over 100 tournaments, and the most I ever won was $20. While donkeys play shit cards and get rewarded for it - flop straights, flushes, two pairs, trips, boats.
Every time I get pocket kings or queens, and ace comes on the flop, and someone ALWAYS hits. In fact, every time I get a pocket pair, raise and get one caller, one over always comes up, and the other player always has it.
Yeah, I'm whining, I know, but sometimes it seems that Full Tilt has put a curse on me, and I'm fucking tired of it. I'm tired of flopping a straight only to lose to a runner-runner full house to some yahoo who lucked into a chip stack that's double mine.
Where can I go where I can actually get a fair shake? Or are they all like this?
This is EXACTLY why I quit playing on Full Tilt. I even sent them an email telling them I would no longer play on thier site and explained my reasons. W is correct about playing the odds it all evens out.....but this does not happen on Full Tilt. It's not so much that it cheats, I just don't believe that their computer programs the cards to be TOTALLY random.
I much prefer my live poker once a week league and have pretty much given up on computer poker. Although I wouldn't mind joining in with you guys when I get my new computer (mine's stuffed) which was meant to be a couple of weekends ago (waiting on the seller).

Just don't play on Ultimate Bet. There have been many instances of cheating for the owners/pros on that site.

Well, the damn thing doesn't want me to make it. I'm going to go play on Pokerstars where I have a small amount of cash that I won in a freeroll. Sorry, maybe next time.

Full Tilt is becoming five on Sunday. They have all kinds of stuff going on. Right now I'm about to start a 5FTP $5000 tournament.
They're also trying to have the biggest poker tournament ever on Sunday.

Re: The Poker Thread
I just won my first tournament EVER, in like a million tries, on FTP. And what did I win? A free entry into the "Record Breaker" on Sunday, for which there may be 50,000 players. That is INSANE.
Re: The Poker Thread
Congrats Shyrke. How many people were in the tourney you won?

Re: The Poker Thread
Actually, shryke, I saw that you were registered in that tourney after I posted. The tournament is a $5 buy in with a $500,000 guarentee, which means there will at least 100,000 (500,000/5) players more than likely because if there's less players than that, then they're actually giving away money. It said that Guinness World Records may email you to make sure that the tournament was legit because they're going for the most players in a poker tournament ever. If you view the list of registered player, it may make your computer slow down because they are expecting so many, that's what it said on the tournament page... Wish I could play with you, but I got some stuff going on.

In case you didn't hear, the WSOP main event is down to the final table to be played in November like they did last year. In first place is
Anyways, there's another thing going on. The US government is trying to shut down all of the poker sites and this is going into effect in December. Even if you're not a poker player, please sign it just for the freedom to be able to use your money/freetime as you please. Poker doesn't hurt anyone, so why outlaw it? Please sign onto your accounts on Pokerstars and/or FullTilt and click the link that will send you to a page that you can sign a petition. You even get a freeroll out of it on both sites.
If you don't have an account at these two places/aren't a poker player, please go here and support it anyways. http://pokerpetition.com/
- Spoiler:
- a logger from Massachusetts who went back to logging even though he was given ninth place cash of $1.2 million (everyone was) to hold him off for three months.
- Spoiler:
- a guy that was on the Bear-Stearns board of directors when they crashed last year.
- Spoiler:
- the one and only Phil Ivey, the "Tiger Woods of Poker." He's already won two bracelets this year giving him seven overall (but all of it is luck, right?)

Like people should be in control of their own money? This is on the government's "no buy" list? Why can the government sponsor lotteries and normal people can't play games of skill? Its a moral issue and doesn't hurt anyone, so why should it be illegal?

A lot of sites seem to be living, breathing scams. Similar to the Nigerian diplomat e-mail scams but more elaborate.

Not even close... If you don't know what you're talking about on a specific subject, please don't comment on it. This is the reason that I didn't join in on the praising or trashing of Moon yesterday and why I don't comment on other stuff as well.
