Re: Apr. 17th Tracking
I expected a $20 million opening. The first did well in rentals and dumb action films with bald guys seemed to be in at the time.

i did.. i honestly didn't think my own complete lack of interest would be shared by the movie-going publicundeadmonkey wrote:well who thought crank would actually do well?!
i mean, what did the new Fast & Furious have to offer that a new Crank didn't? (it's a serious question--i've never seen any installment of either franchise)

Re: Apr. 17th Tracking
Well, I have seen Crank, The first, second, and ten minutes of the new F&F, and to be honest NSpan...Nothing. They're almost all pretty much offering the exact same thing: Lots of ridiculous over-the-top action, hot half-naked women, bad-ass guys doing bad-ass stuff...I guess maybe Vin Deisel and Paul Walker really ARE the draw for that kind of thing. I think Boush said it earlier, Statham really isn't a viable BO draw...And maybe people are realizing that literally ALL of his movies are the exact same thing? I can only hope.

Re: Apr. 17th Tracking
Banks, I really wouldn't say that Statham is the new action hero. He's more Bronson than Schwarzenegger, as in "average at the box office but can entertain and manages the cult audience on DVD". The Bank Job, Crank and Transporter 1 and 3 did average box office but were huge hits on DVD.

Dude needs to go back to England and beg Guy Ritchie for a good role is what he needs to do.
Maybe Stallone can make him some money with the Expendables...

Re: Apr. 17th Tracking
I, unfortunately and against better judgment, saw Crank 2 yesterday. Possibly the worst movie I've ever seen, and I've seen alot...
Pretty disappointed that Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas) did the score...

I held on to 'Crank 2' but only because I thought that two weekends would give it more box office than a single weekend of 'Obsessed.'
WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised by Crank 2 bombing, but i guess that is why the studio released it in August. I'm sure it'll find an audience on DVD though.

Yeah, I did that in one league.. And I'm obsessive compulsive about putting it on my slates. I'll probably see it 17 times on the first weekend just to pad my stats... No, actually, I'll probably never watch it. Maybe I'll rate it a "10" on six fake IMDB names? No, I probably won't do that either...

Re: Apr. 17th Tracking
I'm pretty happy with how I've been playing so far. The only super leagues I've been in were last year's second halfs and I believe I survived a total of one round between the two. I made it through the first two rounds AND have pretty good looking slates for round 3.
