Do you think that I am making this up? There really isn't any buzz for this film except from people like you (Internet fanboys). And that group is also wildly unrealiable for tracking.

And it is looking like that Appartion will be distributing Defendor in the US. Sony picked up worldwide rights to the film and Appartion has an distribution deal with them (which is also why they are distributing Black Dynamite and The Boondock Saints II in the US).

In other news, the opening weekend theatre number on I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell has been reduced from 450 theatres to 115 theatres. The wide date of October 16th is still on though.

Well, this creates an interesting dilemma for the August leagues... with Youth In Revolt gone, there now are precisely ZERO movies scheduled to come out on the final weekend.

Yes, there are two others (Endgame, Gentlemen Broncos) that are there in the September leagues, but those were added later on.

What should we do? Leave the roster as is, and just have no film come out that week (unless something else moves there), or should I make Endgame or Broncos available to those that had Youth in that league?

The harm is that others hadn't had time to figure them into their roster at the beginning of the season. We should keep the pricing scheme the way it is.

And now, a release date and distributor announcement:

Creation, the Paul Bettany/Jennifer Connelly biopic on Charles Darwin that opened the Toronto Film Festival, will open in December (exact date is unknown but I expect Christmas Day). Newmarket (of The Passion Of The Christ, Monster, Whale Rider and Memento fame) is set to distribute the film.

Well, this is one of those good-news, bad-news scenarios, as it pertains to the October leagues. On the one hand, you now have your lead-pipe cinch to win the PTA on the woeful weekend of 12/4. On the other hand, it now becomes, for $9, pretty undesirable in Box Office. It'll never make on its first wide weekend enough to justify that price tag.
