The FRFI 100 Movies To See Before You Die - Page 3 Empty Re: The FRFI 100 Movies To See Before You Die

Post by Chienfantome Sun May 10, 2009 4:40 am

mfrendo wrote:I just watched a movie that had been sitting on my shelf for like 4 years, due to it being long. Dogville w/ Nicole Kidman (who is quite surprising). This movie needs to be added to this list. I just saw it and I can say that it's probably in the top ten (and possibly 5) films I've ever seen. Completely original, and highly intelligent.

Frendo, interesting bit here.
Actually, I see "Dogville" as the only good film by Lars Von Trier. I generally loathe the Danish filmmaker's work, probably one of the most arrogant ground of work ever built, but I must say that "Dogville" was a pleasant surprise. I don't love the film, but it is definitely watchable, and really interesting in its visual sobriety.

The FRFI 100 Movies To See Before You Die - Page 3 Empty Re: The FRFI 100 Movies To See Before You Die

Post by geezer9687 Sun May 10, 2009 6:47 am

My List:

My Cousin Vinny
V for Vendetta
Rounders
Independence Day
Office Space (shocked this wasn't mentioned!)
Apollo 13
Ocean's 11
Aladdin
Braveheart
Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
Blow
The Poseiden Adventure
Cool Runnings
Mrs. Doubtfire
The Bad News Bears

Everything else has already been mentioned.

It is my suggestion that at some point, we need to stop accepting nominees, and have everyone who wishes to participate create a list of their own 100, not in any order, and then resubmit it here. It would be a good starting point. It would eliminate any film that no one puts on their own top 100, and would give us a good idea of the films that show up repeatedly and will certainly make the list. We could figure out the next step from there. That makes the most sense to me.

I think most of the films that have a shot at making it have been mentioned, so if you want to start compiling a list of 100 from the master list (which needs to include Buscemi and my own additions) then go ahead and get started.
