It only began to look like one when Lionsgate reduced the number of theatres from 2,500 to 1,000. Unless your film is named Borat, that is never a good sign.

Agreed, Banksy...but in certain cases, such as TDK (and I do not by any means think that this will rival that in BO or quality...), it does help. The Terminator trailer, and what I've heard from people talking, seems to be something that everyone wants to see, because it has action for action junkies, a good story, and some deeper themes than most action films (such as the robot who thinks he's human...which is pretty much straight out of Battlestar Galactica, but a good concept nonetheless).

This is my most anticipated movie of the summer...though I have high hopes for Star Trek and Drag Me to Hell.

I think Ghosts will open higher than Mase's predictions, maybe mid-20's...there hasn't been a chick flick in a while and lord knows the women love them some Matthew McConaughey.

I haven't touched this film in BO because I don't think it'll justify its price, however, it'll pick up some PTA, four T5, and a non horrible IMDB this weekend and will pick up at the very least two more top five next weekend. It'll also get one or two the next weekend. Probably seven or eight Top Five, 3 PTA, UR of 6, $50-70 M.

well after seeing the movie wolverine should be able to match ironman ow based solely off the fact the the midnight at my theater sold more not the movie cause the ending kind of really pissed me off. IF i wasnt such a deadpool fan the movie would of been pretty good. But I'll be damned if the begining scene with wade isnt like the coolest and funniest thing ever!

the show i went to was sold out too...but only one person was dressed in costume, which surprised me a little...anyway, i thought the movie was solid, i won't go into any details though to spoil it for anyone, but yes, deadpool was hilarious. if anyone goes to see it make sure you wait for the credits to roll, there's something at the end to see...

Nikke Finke is reporting 5M from 1,500 locations. More then Watchmen in less theatres and Wolverine did not have IMax to help it out either. I'm confident it will do fine this weekend.

Suprisingly Iron Man only made about $3 million and it opened at 8:00 on Thursday, not midnight. I went to it, too, and there wasn't many people there.

Iron Man made $3.5m between 8pm and midnight. Iron Man's success was built on WOM.

Well, I just saw it and the ending at the end of mine was just outright stupid. It actually made the movie worse, which was pretty hard considering I thought it was shitty to begin with. I actually caught myself falling asleep for a good amount of the film. Action movies should never be this boring...

I've got some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that I saw the film today and it turned out better than I expected. Liev Schreiber actually made a good mutant but I felt the film needed more Gambit.

The bad news is that the showing I went to (4:15 pm) was only half filled and not a single showing at the theatre had sold out. Six months ago, Twilight played at the same theatre and nearly every show sold out on opening day. In fact, Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past seemed to be performing better than Wolverine.

I'll be surprised if the film manages even a $27.5 million opening day. $25 million is looking more likely.

Great for Wolverine. $100 million was out of reach with the lack of much interest to see this and the internet outbreak causing more bad hype. Also good for Ghosts, and strong holds for Earth and The Soloist.

Wolverine's 35M OD, is just below Iron Man for 16th all time. ($8,539 PTA)
31M Saturday locks on an 85M OW for Wolvie.
Ghost disappoints a bit with 16M
Terra DOA
*Numbers from DHD

Limits opens at 17,200 at 3 theatres: 5,733 PTA, pretty good but I don't think it'll beat Wolvie
Merry Gentlemen opens at 17,900 at 24 sites: 745 PTA BOMB
Revanche opens at 3,850 at 3 sites: 1,283 PTA, could steal some PTA from the lower ranks

Early BOM Weekend estimates:

1. Wolverine 87M
2. Ghosts... 15.3M
3. Obsessed 12.2M
4. 17 Again 6.3M
5. MvA 5.8M

Man, I over estimated Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. I hope it's failure won't hurt me too much in some of the leagues I picked it in.

I just don't get how a movie like Obsessed can score 28 million, and GoGP can only do 15... at least I can see the audience for GoGP... I just don't get it sometimes. Its a wonder how I actually succeed at this game.
