Players should be allowed to change their slates until the actual deadline?
Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
My mistake! It was jas_8382 NOT you! Sorry!... Bad news for you! I guess...
Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
10 players: J.I., IPKI$$, undeadmonkey, SuperShaan, becs, silversurfer19, Keyser Soze, leestu, jas_8382 and Donte77 have chosen Star Trek.
After BOM estimates, Star Trek did a very good job: 72.5 in OW, 76.5 after its first 4 days (Thu included).
I don't agree with the ones that say this (movie) will have Batman Begins multiplier - 4.21 . I'm thinking of 2.7-2.8, so $195-205 M.
It will depend of its 2nd weekend drop.
What do you think?

Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
I think I am officially fucked in this competition, that is what i think
Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
As of Wolverine, the experts said $155-165 M, I'm still hoping at $180-185 M.
Let's see Angels & Demons numbers... I don't think it will surpass those of DaVinci Code...
geezer9687, I haven't chosen Star Trek either
This is Life! With pleasant & unpleasant surprises...
I'm still optimist though...

I'm more pissed about picking Watchmen (So far the bomb of the year) then this missing out on this Star Trek fad.

Damn, I missed out on Star Trek and Monsters vs. Aliens...not to mention all the unexpected hits like Taken and Paul Blart.

just at Box-Office Let's see the numbers of T4 and NATM 2...
Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian = $53.5 M on OW. Do you actually think that it will surpass the numbers of 1st NATM ? I don't think so. I won't be surprised if it won't reach even the $200 M mark.
Terminator Salvation = $43.01 M on OW. After so many mixed reviews, this can be below to "Fast and Furious". I won't be surprised if it won't surpass even the blamed Paul Blart: Mall Cop and the very appreciated Taken. Maybe this one won't even reach the final 2009 Top 10 movies... What do you think?
Next one is UP which I think that it will surely surpass the 200 mark

These disappointing OWs are going to make this a very interesting competition.

Well, I have made a few bad decisions in this game this year (Watchmen, Angels and Demons, Wolverine) but it seems like I got this one correct from the onset.

damn, i hate to point this out, but my total is wrong. I've only had 6 movies come out with a total of $795M, which would actually put me in 5th place

Add The Hangover to the list that no one saw coming. At least for this game. It it stays at least 40M OW, then it could gross up to 150M, more then Angels and Demons, T4, and Watchmen.

Thanks for rubbing it in.
I remember making that pick before the trailers came out, back when Will Ferrel plus dinosaurs seemed like a can't-miss scenario. Then I saw the first trailer and knew I was screwed in this game.
Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
Don't feel too bad JohnErle: What moment of insanity led me to think that 'Angels and Demons' would be a top 3 pick?

Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
I just crossed the billion mark this weekend. I am surprised at how interesting this is even though I can do nothing to change my slate. I just sit and watch.
So far Watchmen and Terminator are my weak links. Only Avatar is in doubt I think. Ice Age 3, Potter and Trans 2 are pretty much a guaranteed chunk of cash.

Re: Super-contest of 2009// Blockbusters of 2009
My actual Total: $1,285,453,784 as of 6-29-09
Total of the actual top ten is $1,863,256,731 as of 6-29-09.
I am just under 600 Mil off. Sounds bad that way. I am on track for close to 2 billion total which is not bad.
Delfi, I need updates man!!! LOL
