Let's recap:

Hi everybody!

First of all, thank you to all who have participated at Super-contest of 2008 http://www.fantasymoguls.com/forum/posts/list/225/661.page#43545
The contest for 2008 is almost finished, so we need to look up for the next edition.

This time, let's vote the rules:

1. all the moguls have to choose a top 10 blockbusters of 2009, no more, no less; release dates (in US) between: 01.01.2009 - 12.31.2009;
2. these movies can't be replaced, once you have chosen'em! if you're unlucky and a movie will have the release date delayed for 2010, your bad.... so look out carefully for the movies who have the release date in December 2009; the WGA strike did 2 great delays in 2008: Star Trek, Angels and Demons... Harry Potter was also delayed for 2009; I think that we'll have in 2009 some little "surprises" as well...;
3. the box offices calculated (TOT$) will be until 02.28.2010; this way the movies released in December 2009 will have their chance (from December 2009 until end of February 2010 they can do 95-97% of final box offices)…;
5. sign up date until:
5.1. 12.01.2008
5.2. 01.01.2009
5.3. 02.01.2009 - voted already
5.4. 03.01.2009
let's vote this!...
6. for next year's edition I want more fair-play; that's why my proposal is that the list of the 10 movies to be sent by e-mail. Not a few were this year inspired by the elections posted by those who have decided among the first ... To eliminate, to reduce, to prevent such cases I propose to send, as soon as we determine the method and when it will be the Start & Lock Date, an e-mail with the top 10 movies of the 2009, from USA DOMESTIC GROSSES point. My e-mail: delfinasu @ gmail dot com. Now, because I wish to participate as well for the next year edition my suggestions are:
6.1. The mail that you'll send it to me has to be somehow encrypted, because I don't have to see your proposals; for that I propose to attach a "txt" file archived with WinRAR and encrypted with a password; if necessary, I promise to post here a small tutorial (Bingo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h92KEVGFtsM) to see how you can archive a "txt" file and especially how to protect it with a password using WinRAR... If you have another proposal, easier, better, we'll discuss everything here and we will vote the most appropriate method to send an encrypted file ...
The "txt" file archived and protected with a password using WinRAR, should contain besides the 10 ordered elections, a total of these 10 films (e.g. $ 2.25 billion, $ 3.01 billion, etc.) - this way the winner, in case that we'll have 2 or more moguls with the same 10 movies and placed in exactly the same order (case a little unlikely, but in case that it will happen), will be the one with the total closer to the truth. In case that we'll have 2 or more moguls with exactly the same 10 movies, but arranged in different order, the winner will be the one according to the paragraph 7;
6.2. it must be another person beside me to counter-sign, to verify that the choices posted by me (once I receive the passwords from participants) are exactly those sent by the moguls. So, the encrypted mail must be sent to me and to the other mogul as well...
Immediately after the lock date, me and the other mogul will post our personal choices, then we expect that the participant moguls to mail us the passwords of the attachments, and then for each participant I'll post here their elections which must be verified by the other mogul (who'll receive the passwords from participants as well). Who wants to help me with this? Any appeal of the elections will be analyzed by the two which centralize all e-mails - me and another one mogul...

7. the winner announced on 03.01.2010 - is the mogul with the highest total box office; in case of equality (the same chosen movies), the winner will be the one according to the order of films chosen in the final standings (1st guessed place - 10 points, 2nd guessed place - 9 points ..., 10th place guessed - 1 point).

Awards proposals: (not necessary, just if you want to do this)
To make it more attractive and competitive, I propose that places 1, 2 and 3 to receive an original DVD from each of the other participants. It's not a great financial effort ...

My proposal to award the winners would be the following:
- Place 1 will receive 50% of DVDs from the number of participants - 3 (minus three, corresponding to the first 3 places);
- Place 2 will receive 30% of DVDs (the number of participants - 3);
- Place 3 to receive 20% of DVDs (the number of participants - 3).

An example, to understand better - for 30 participants:
- Place 1 will receive 14 DVDs, from the participants on places 4-17;
- Place 2 will receive 8 DVDs, from the participants on places 18-25;
- Place 3 to receive 5 DVDs, from the participants on places 26-30.

Advantages:
- because we'll award 2nd and 3rd place as well, this game will stimulate the participants;
- the fact that if it will be a greater interest for this edition, thus it will increase the number of DVDs offered as a prize as well.

For 2008 edition, I know that we haven't vote this proposal, BUT if I'll be in 4-17 place, I'll send to the winner a DVD as I promised!

Waitin' 4 your feedback... comments, proposals, suggestions...

Regards,
Marius

P.S.: First of all, please vote the registration deadline for this contest and then expose your opinion regarding "how to send" options...

P.S.2: waitin' 4 more than 25 moguls this time...
=======================================================================================
NOW it's time to vote until the 1st of December or after more than 30 votes the most appropriate method for sending the elections .
I repeat the risk if we simply post here the elections: moguls who'll enter later will be influenced by the choices already made. But even so, I will be surprised if we'll have two moguls with exactly the same 10 movies in the exact same order, in which case the winner will be the one with the specified total of 10 movies closer to reality. (e.g. real final total will be $ 2.5 billion, mogul 1 with $ 2.6 billion will be above mogul 2, with a specified total of $ 2.3 billion). BUT if someone will copy/ paste absolutely everything - movies, order, even the specified total, I proposed that this one to be disqualified from start OR to be noticed to change a particular option to enter the contest. What do you think?[b]

Hey Delf,

Looking forward to another year of the game. Already looking at next year's hits.

I'm voting against the secret ballot style. It's excessive, and I doubt there will be many people "stealing" anyone else's slate. It's just a game, after all!

Well, I've already made up my mind about 2009. I could be too cynical in my choices, but I don't think there's going to be any surprises in 2009 in terms of the Top 10: all predictable blockbusters and sequels. So here goes

1. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
2. Night at the Museum 2
3. Transformers 2
4. Terminator 4
5. Watchmen
6. Avatar
7. Ice Age 3
8. Angels and Demons
9. Up
10. X Men: Wolverine

TOTAL 1.65 BIL

What's with the hope for GI Joe? It's a boy's move, it won't even make 100 MIL
