Will Quantum of Solace even pass Casino Royale at this rate? It might get another 60% drop with Day opening and then the week after with all the competition . . . . it's looks like a fish out of water.

It needs about $20-23 million. It's still possible.

Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
Mojo numbers are up, they are practically the same from the the-numbers numbers
I'm following the Milk vs. Slumdog PTA race. Milk is only ahead by $216! And Frost/Nixon is going to win the Weekend by a landslide.

Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
Yeah, We knew Frost/Nixon was a shoe-in, but Slumdog may just pull out the second spot. I could use that extra PTA point. It will be very close.
Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
So it looks like this for the Top 5/PTA race:
PTA:
5. Frost/Nixon
3-4. Milk and Slumdog
1-2. Cadillac and Four Christmases
No word on Hunger.
Top 5:
5. Four Christmases
4. Twilight
3. Bolt
2. Australia
1. Quantum of Solace
And it looks like I called the champions in both categories correctly for two straight weeks now. BWAAHAAAHAA!
Interesting. Australia, if this holds, would finish higher than last week. Of course, Madagascar 3's low Friday numbers aren't surprising, given that that kind of movie does better on Saturday and Sunday anyway, so this might change. Amazing that Twilight's Friday numbers are nearly double Bolt's given that they finished in a near dead-heat last week.
Punisher and Nobel Son are officially duds. Wow. Punisher couldn't even beat Awake's opening weekend from last year.... and that movie SUCKED.
geezer, choosing Slumdog for $23, was a gamble, but it paid off. Well done. Unfortunately for you, Shaan gained more point in the Top 5 category than you did in PTA, so his lead may be significantly higher after this weekend.
PTA:
5. Frost/Nixon
3-4. Milk and Slumdog
1-2. Cadillac and Four Christmases
No word on Hunger.
Top 5:

Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
Reasons For Punisher Flopping:
1.They waited four and a half years to do a sequel.
2.No Thomas Jane.
3.The sequel avoided the original's gritty feel completely.
4.Dominic West's character looks like a lesser Dick Tracy villain and is a poor match for Travolta in the original.
5.The studio and Marvel interfered heavily and even fired the director at one point, of which the director made public.
6.Jonathan Hensleigh was only a executive producer this time.
Reasons For Nobel Son Flopping:
1.It spend three years on the shelf.
2.It was released by Freestyle Releasing.
3.The film shouldn't have went wide in the first place. It should have followed Bottle Shock's formula instead by opening limited first, then expanding a month later.

... and most importantly, the weekend after Thanksgiving is historically a terrible time to release a movie.Buscemi wrote:Reasons For Punisher Flopping:

while I agree with Busc's take on Nobel, the main reason for Punisher is that it SUCKED. and not just sucked as in "I personally didn't like it", but it really was utter crap.

Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
And because nobody liked the first one either.
Nobel Son had no marketing as far as I know. No shock.
Four Christmases held up crazy well. Only a 41.5% drop in the weekend after Thanksgiving? Its going to $130 million.
And Twilight's holding better than almost all of the other movies out there.
Bad for Bolt, QoS, and Madagascar 2.

Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
WOW! Slumdog beats Milk! Down goes Frasier! Down goes Frasier! It's great to go out like that as I don't think it'll get any PTA points next week with all the new releases, however it does go wide December 19th and expands for the next two weekends, so if any of the extraneous movies open a bit soft Jan. 9th is a date to watch.

Cadillac Record did quite well considering its theatre count. Surprised me with its PTA point. I thought it would be DOA.

Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
FInal numbers show Milk arrives number 2 in the PTA race for the weekend... Just ahead of Slumdog !
Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
I was just about to post that Chien. Milk for 4 PTA, Slumdog gets 3.
Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
Can we have a thread, or a place to go, which just has one entry each week which sums up the top 5 points and PTA points for that week? Or is there one already, and if so where?

Done, I'll leave it in this forum but I have locked the topic so that it will solely function as a topic for finding actual BO/PTA for each week. I'll update it each week, providing a continuous source of information.

Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
I think it should include the imdb scores for all relevant movies too. That would be really helpful.
Re: RS Tracking for December 5th and Future
No problem, I'll add them too.

Thanks heaps Surfer. You're da man!
Didn't someone say Cadillac Records missed that PTA point? Were they incorrect?
