Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
Sometimes you gotta love cornball songs with cornball lyrics. I found this song and forgot just how awesome it was! The pride of Beaver Falls, PA is my video pick for Thursday, February 5th:
Donnie Iris - Love Is Like A Rock (live)

I'm in a weird mood, so you get a silly video. Bex Pick for today is Vanilla Sky covering Rihanna's Umbrella.

Shryke,
Wow, did you just go all Donnie Iris on us here? I didn't think anyone outside of Pittsburgh listened to him let alone remembered him. Can't tell you how many times we saw Donnie playing in local bars back in the 80's. He still lives in the Beaver Falls area, and is a mortgage broker today. He occasionally still sings the National Anthem at Pirates' baseball games and Penguins' hockey games.
Following the dismantling of The cruisers, Donnie briefly joined Wild Cherry, but it was after their one hit wonder, "Play that funky music (White Boy)".
Before forming the Cruisers, Donnie was part of a band called The Jaggerz who had what was voted at one time as the number one song of the 60's.
This is "The Rapper"

They had the term, all they needed was the music.

Boush,
In the 60's "Rapping" had a whole different meaning than it does now

edit: okay, okay.. here's 4 demo tracks from the Honeycomb sessions (they were obviously pretty far along at this point, as they sound very similar to the final tracks.. but these have, arguably, a bit more raw edge to 'em)
Dark End of the Steet Demo MP3
Honeycomb Demo MP3
Song of the Shrimp Demo MP3
Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day Demo MP3
these should of interest to more than just Surfer.. any fan of the Pixies, Frank Black, or good music in general might want to check these out

Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
Well, I'm on to the letter "J" now, and I have a feeling I'll be here for a while, what with names like Billy Joel and Elton John coming up. But I'll start with Michael Jackson, and no matter what anyone says, no matter how grotesque his face, his career or his life may become, I'll always try (and probably fail) to remember him as the guy who OWNED the mid-80s, beginning with this video, still, I believe, one of the coolest ever made, and a classic in every sense of the word.
Michael Jackson - Billie Jean (sorry about the overly long intro, but this was the ONLY version of the original video that I could find where the embedding hadn't been disabled)

Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
well.. since you all insist on keeping up the oldies, I'm takin it way back to right after i got into music that wasn't like Raffi or other kid stuff.. I love The Tea Party, back in my early teens I looped their songs Temptation, Babylon, and Walking Wounded to play Tribes (old school FPS) to... so here they are with Walking Wounded.

Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
For my next "J" video, I wanted to do any of a number of videos by the group James, but unfortunately, they're all disabled. All of them. And I really liked this group and wanted to share them with you... needless to say, if you go on YouTube, listen to songs like "Sit Down", "Born of Frustration" and especially their most recognizable hit, "Laid."
All I could find to put here was a live version of one of my favorites of theirs, so enjoy it.
James - Just Like Fred Astaire
EDIT: Here you go Shryke,
SS
