Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
Shryke,
Appreciate the "No Fixx" policy as I'm pretty sure even Cy Curnan can't watch those old videos any more, and he was in them.
Both bands that I mentioned defeinitely fall into your time period. Fun Boy 3 was around from '81 - '83 and produced this foregttable track:
The Fall were another of the bands that formed in the Manchester screne of the late 70's/early 80's

"The Lunatics Have taken Over the Asylum" would have been my choice from Fun Boy 3. And, IMO, an appropriate choice since in my mind it describes what we have done here with the move from FM to The Fantaverse Resurrected
Fully support your Fall choice. Victoria is a great song, and more accessible (not as of beat as some of their others) to new listeners.

I have to agree with Shryke on Material Issue. That singer made me pull out asshair to stop the pain.
Here is a much better voice and a great mellow song for a crappy monday. Tracy Chapman - Fast Car

Back to the F section...
Nothing really remarkable about this song, but I've always kind of liked it.
My video pick for Tuesday, December 16th, from 1989:
Flesh For Lulu - Time and Space

Comedy Music has to count too.
Andy Samberg needs more movie roles.

Local flavor from the past. The Kentucky Headhunters with "My Daddy Was a Milkman", my personal favorite from the Rockabilly group. Tomorrow I'll catch you up on one of the Headhunters offspring. Sorry I couldn't get a real video.

Geez,
I posted that Samberg one a couple of pages ago.
Shryke,
Don't know how I forgot about Flesh for Lulu while going through the F's. That wasn't isn't a real favorite of mine. I'm a little more partial to "I go Crazy" or my personal favorite "Postcards from Paradise"
My pick for the day, a band that is actually in a similar veinf to Flesh for Lulu, The Mekons and "Memphis, Egypt"
Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
Where exactly did you post it Keyser? I certainly can't find it. Either way, its always good to see that again. I watched it aproximately 11 times in a row and never got tired of it. Andy Samberg is amazing. Make Hot Rod 2!!!

Geez,
Middle of Page 9, but you're right. Never get tired of watching it

Thought it looked familiar, and while I'm not a big Samberg fan...yet...., this effort is hilarious.

I see, well I am saddened that I had not seen it when you posted it. But oh well, it deserves a second mention. It is that good. Its the best thing I've seen since Benny Lava.
Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
Oh, God in heaven, Benny Lava. The phlegmories that brings back...
Just kidding, it was hysterical, but in the most cringe-inducing, bowel-clenching way imaginable.
And yes, I just now coined the term "phlegmories". I get a quarter every time someone says it now.

Ok since the older guys (hee hee to Shryke, Leestu and Keyser) are hitting the 80s indie scene I will post a local band. This band is named Mountain Sprout and they are hilarious. Most of their songs are deep redneck bluegrass but with a comedic twist. This song is called Dry Counties of Arkansas.
Sorry there is only live stuff up as they don't exactly have a record deal.

Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
Well I didn't go through every page, but I don't *think* anyone has mentioned these yet which is a travesty!
When I think of music videos, these two are the iconic bar that has been set in my mind:
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Radiohead - Karma Police

Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
I was unable to play "Everlong" because the embedding had been disabled.
I was actually just getting up to the Foo Fighters in my almanac, who had exactly one charted hit up to that point: "This is a Call".
But here, to replace two posts above, is my favorite Foo Fighters song. It just kicks ass.
Unable to play the actual video, it's been "disabled" too.

Yesterday Donte gave us some local flavor with Mountain Sprout (Cajun on the washboard gave me nightmares). Some bands to come from my neck of the woods include Nappy Roots, The Kentucky Headhunters, and this band Black Stone Cherry. One of the members of The Kentucky Headhunters fathered a son who now plays with Black Stone Cherry.

Too long. Didn't read.
