Re: Tyler Perry/Oscar Weekend Tracking
I think people would be going to see those movies anyway so it wouldn't affect those as much as, say, Paul Blart: Mall Cop.
My theater sold out 13 showings for Madea yesterday and will sell out at least 15 today judging by how things are currently going, and the other theater has already sold out double the amount of showings today as it did all of yesterday, so I think it will hold well on Saturday.
I also want to point out that since Jonas Brothers will only be on one screen in most theaters, everything (other than Coraline) will be able to stay on the same amount of screens next weekend as this weekend.

Re: Tyler Perry/Oscar Weekend Tracking
According to DHD, Perry's film scored another 17M on Sat which should lead it to 40m for the weekend.

Congrats to TP with another big hit, his biggest yet, with a User Rating of 2.6.
You know, I'm getting pretty fuckin' fed up with IMDb's User Ratings, you know?

I think that's an excellent idea. IMDB is too biased.

Re: Tyler Perry/Oscar Weekend Tracking
Madea had the third biggest opening ever for a movie that opened under 2,500 theaters (and the two above it, 8 Mile and Jurassic Park, were in about 300 more theaters than it was), the biggest opening weekend so far this year, and has already outgrossed two of Tyler Perry's movies, Daddy's Little Girls and The Family That Preys.

Meanwhile, Friday the 13th had the sixth biggest drop ever and the biggest drop for a film that opened to more than $10 million.

Re: Tyler Perry/Oscar Weekend Tracking
Shryke said,
Shryke, I posted the same thing after Hannah Montana 3D came out because when you looked at the demographic that voted over half were guys over 20 years old (you know very few of them actually saw it, they were just voting). In the same post I mentioned the Tyler Perry movies all getting very low imdb scores. It was actually the first post I ever wrote on the old website. Well needless to say, most of the people on the boards (many of the same who post on our new site here) lashed out at me like a red-headed stepchild. I hope you're ready for the beating.

Top 10 Movies In Canada This Weekend
Slumdog Rules, No sign of Madea in the top 10.
EDIT: I don't even think Madea is released in Canada, since it doesn't appear to be playing anywhere in Vancouver even though the distributor, Lionsgate, is based here. We've got both parts of Che, though, so I'm not complaining.

Re: Tyler Perry/Oscar Weekend Tracking
That's odd. Out of the 309 imdb votes Madea got, 79 were from outside of the US. Out of the 79 non US votes, 40 of them voted the movie a 1 out of 10. Hmmm, I wonder, could it be possible that those 40 people who gave it a 1 out of 10 are players of FM who didn't have Madea on their slates??? Hmmmmmm...

Re: Tyler Perry/Oscar Weekend Tracking
I don't think there are even 40 people on here outside the US. I could be wrong though. Also, our votes really wouldn't make a difference at all.
Re: Tyler Perry/Oscar Weekend Tracking
I know, I just find it funny that the movie wasn't released outside of the US, yet there are still 79 votes for the movie on imdb.....that's 25% of the votes!
I've always wondered if everyone votes on the movies for their slates even if they don't see them. I don't, but I would have to think some people do.

Re: Tyler Perry/Oscar Weekend Tracking
I use to, like a year ago. I don't anymore, because it is really silly. I don't even think my votes count. Only "regular" voters get counted in the score and who knows what makes you a regular voter.
Re: Tyler Perry/Oscar Weekend Tracking
Ditto to you Geez. I used to vote, but now only vote for the sole purpose of remembering what I thought of a movie when it was first released for when I go back and look at it. So I was not one of the voters from outside the US. Neither was thegreenarrow.

And all of them are named Barca, Shaan or Leestu.
