Lately, I had been warming up to it. But now that I've seen the real thing, it will probably be insufferable to me.

Plenty of movies set in Las Vegas are good. Fear And Loathing and The Cooler spring to mind as a couple of my favourites, as well as Very Bad Things. A movie's location should not put you off of a movie.

I saw those before visiting Las Vegas. I imagine they wouldn't affect me now after having seen the real Las Vegas.

Also, one of my main problems with The Hangover is that it looks exactly like Very Bad Things. Only this time, the main object is a baby instead of a dead hooker and the dark humor is replaced with reheated Frat Pack-styled humor.

Yeah, WALL-E was pretty bad to me, while I warmed up to Ratatouille alot more on my second viewing of it. Wall-E was tolerable until they left Earth, it was all downhill from there.

And Buscemi is underaged, I'm pretty sure that has something to do with hating Vegas. Although he's old enough to visit the Bunny Ranch...

I agree with the sentiments on Wall-E. However, it did not detract too much for me since I really liked the relationship between Wall-E and EVE and I also liked The President. Anyways, a lot of the reviews I've been reading are picking up on that sort of situation with Up. They still like the film no doubt, but unfortunately, it does not live up to it's potential that it could have been. It also takes on very, very difficult subject matter, death, which I have not seen pronounced in any of the TV spots or trailers. I worry a bit but I think it will end near 200M and get a 4X.

Boy am I going to hate watching The Hangover.

Boy am I going to love the Hangover!!!

And as well documented, I don't get the Wall-E hype. Ratatouille was approximately 987654329876 times better.

Here are a couple examples about what I'm talking about:

In the same way that “WALL-E” lost some of its magic when the film left Earth behind for the satellite, “Up” becomes as weighed down by gravity as its heroes do once they’re forced to drag the house around. To make matters worse, the script (by Peterson and Pete Docter, who directed) repeats the big mistake of “Ratatouille” by having the two lead characters have a contrived fight that doesn’t fit the story but does conveniently set up the big final conflict.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30950508/

Like the outfit's previous film, WALL-E, Up is superb in setting up characters and a world that hankers over memories of yesteryear, but once the adventure moves into its obligatory action denouement, it enters a world of stereotypes that disappoints. Indeed, action sequences have been Pixar's Achilles' heel, with overly long and tedious effects letting down Cars and The Incredibles. In Up, the blockbuster moments that should be of Around the World in 80 Days proportions are instead surprisingly uninventive.

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/reviews/first-night-up-cannes-film-festival-1684582.html

These early passages are heartbreaking – watching them was the first time I’ve shed a tear in a theater in quite a while. The beginning of Up is awash in genuine emotion, artfully earned. It makes you uncomfortable in an honest way, which may be why the story makes an abrupt turn into action-adventure territory. It’s almost as if the filmmakers stage a retreat.

http://www.larsenonfilm.com/index.php?Search=Docter+Fredrickson&AllWords=on

Pixar’s Up is a small charmer with the studio’s patented brand of cunning: Shock us with an inconsolable woe (predator eats fish’s wife and kids; a trash-heap Earth is depopulated save for a robot whose idea of culture is Hello, Dolly!); then gradually introduce sentiment, riotous chases, and a rousing cliff-hanger. Works for me! If we forgive the more conventional second half of Wall-E (and not everyone does), it’s because we’re grateful; we’re unaccustomed to such devastation in mainstream animation. We’re certainly devastated by the overture to Up, which centers on
Spoiler:

http://nymag.com/movies/reviews/56929/

The first 10 minutes of Up are flawless; the final 80 minutes, close enough.

http://www.villagevoice.com/2009-05-27/film/pixar-s-up-soars-in-entirely-unexpected-ways/

I'm not saying Up isn't a good movie or whatever, just that it established something epic and fell into something more generic. All these reviews are from RT and it is still sitting at 100% there despite that little misstep. That should tell you how good the film is.

. . . . .I'm not going to say anything but Finke reports

MovieTickets.com says holdover Night at the Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonianis selling 36% of all its online tickets vs UP which is selling 11%, Angels & Demons 10%, Star Trek 9%, Terminator Salvation 5%

http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/museum-2-far-outselling-up-online/

Keep in mind NATM 2 is a KID'S FILM too. . . .

He also gave negative review to Star Trek, Slumdog Millionaire, Zodiac, There Will be Blood, Iron Man, Revolutionary Road, Benjamin Button. While giving positive reviews for twilight and bedtime stories. Here are some actual quotes from one of his articles

Article

Transporter 3 BETTER THAN The Dark Knight
Olivier Megaton, Jason Statham and Luc Besson reinvent the action movie as kinetic art, but impressionable teenagers mistook Chris Nolan’s nihilistic graphic novel for kool fun.

CJ7 BETTER THAN Wall-E
Stephen Chow endowed a poor kid’s action figure with numinous potential (a tribute to the still-extraordinary E.T.), while Pixar twisted its standard formula into ugly, end-ofhistory cynicism.

Twilight BETTER THAN Let the Right One In
Catherine Hardwicke finds her métier in an outsiders’ romance disguised as a vampire movie; she turns Stephenie Meyer’s book series into a Brontë-esque vision, especially compared to the dismal Scandinavian J-horror rip-off.

I want to go on record as saying that the dude UDM is talking about may just quite possibly be the most retarded, assinine, cunt-brained, waste of flesh I have ever heard tales and myths about...

Twilight wasn't even better than old Dark Shadows reruns... My wife loves vampire novels and read Myers entire shitty series and even she said the movie was terrible.

If Transporter 3 was better than TDK then the first Transporter was the filmic equivalent of doing heroin while getting a blowjob from god.

I believe in freedom of speech and opinion but wow this guy is a just a douche in the way he writes his reviews. I am a Jason Statham fanboy i didnt even think Transporter 3 was better than TDK. Hell Transporter 3 wasnt even the best JASON STATHAM film to come in 08.

Honestly, Transporter 3 was the weakest of the trilogy. It wasn't bad but the loss of Louis Leterrier as (co-) director caused it not to be as good as the first two.

Meanwhile Terminator is dropping like a dead fish...the Top 5 turn out looks like it's going to be awful for this one...it's going to kill a few of my slates.

What do you guys think? 5 top 5, maybe 6 at the most?

We can still hold out hope that Up comes along and delivers a harsh blow to NATM2 that Terminator will not receive. Its not like NATM2 is blowing it out of the water, only up by 400,00. It will get an absolute minimum of 6 Top 5, because it won't finish worse than 4th this weekend. Who knows what Drag me to Hell will actually do, and like I said, I'm hoping the competition from Pixar will knock the legs out from under Ben Stiller. Of course, this is merely being hopeful.
