My list is miles long, we've been over the loads of movies I haven't see that are "classics" and must sees, but here are just a few;
Ghostbusters trilogy
You can definitely pass on any Ghostbusters movie that has a digit in the title.
But if she did that, she would miss one of my favourite lines of all time:
"I, Vigo, the Scourge of Carpathia, the Sorrow of Moldavia, command you!"
On second thought, I just remembered how that film ends... Depends if Becs is a completionist or not!

Basically he says that he's seen 943 of the movies in the book and that he's carefully rationing out the rest so that he'll stay alive longer. I got it as a reference for some of the more obscure classics so that I can keep filling in my knowledge gaps. A lot of them are probably too obscure to ever be tracked down, but I'll get to most of the main ones I hope!
Speaking of books on the topic, I picked up Film School: How to Watch DVDs and Learn Everything About Filmmaking some time ago, its got a great list of movies and really helps change your perspective on even the smallest details of a movie.
That's for the heads up Becs. I'm going to look into it and I'll use my evil powers as a bookstore guy to bring in a copy for myself. I also recommend The Story Of Film since it is the book that got me really thinking about the technical end and artistry of films.

You don't speak for.. well even a small fraction of movie viewers... I've heard almost exclusively good things about the movie from those like minded in movie taste to me.

Even I was left a little downbeat about the movie. Couldn't get into it, and these are usually my type of movies. Especially after all the praise I had heard for it on here, I was expecting a lot, maybe too much....

It was brilliant. LOL It is firmly entrenched in my Top 10 of all time.
And about Shortbus, I liked it but it is viewer beware. LOL One friend asked me about it and I told him to never ever watch it. I knew it would make him uncomfortable. Especially the "3 guys humming the song" scene. Hahahaha
In my world I thought it was great because there is something for everyone in it.
Re: Movies That You Are Ashamed to Have Not Seen
okay, to qualify Huckabees, maybe you'll like it--unless you have any academic interest in philosophy, in which case you'll quickly realize that the movie is an hour-and-a-half of the characters linguistically vomiting on each other

I also hated I Heart Huckabee's.

I also enjoyed I Heart Huckabee's and place it in my top ten of all time, but it's definitely not for everyone. I've never heard someone in the middle of the spectrum...Either they love it or they hate it. I think it's one of the funniest yet thoughtfully heartfelt and genuinely moving films I've personally ever seen, but I can definitely see how some people would not enjoy it.

Isn't Shortbus the movie where a guy cums on his own face within the first 10 minutes?

Re: Movies That You Are Ashamed to Have Not Seen
That be the one Banks. LOL It is on par with a John Waters film (the 70s stuff, not the new tamed down stuff) and is definitely not for everyone. Especially you Tranny. Way too young to be involved with that movie yet. LOL
Man Busci, Deep Throat is a classic and I highly recommend it to anybody who likes porno. Back when they actually tried to give porno plots and story. The acting is still terrible but they were trying at least. Now it is just random clips of sex. Only bad thing about classic porno is all the body hair. LOL Chicks with afro pubic hair and guys with hair from balls to forehead.

I've never heard of Shortbus, but from that description, sounds like a must-see.

Tokyo Story
All movies considered to be amongst the greatest ever made, yet I haven't gotten around to getting them yet. Though they are very high up my wishlist.
Wild Strawberries was so good.
I would say Trainspotting
