Re: March 27th Tracking
Sunshine Cleaning hits 500 theatres on Friday. It should also come here as well. I really want to see it but I'm afraid that it will more depressing than funny (since films about people hitting rock bottom usually do that to me).
And I may now give The Haunting In Connecticut a shot. My mother won some free passes in a newspaper Oscar contest (thanks to picking Sean Penn over Mickey Rourke*) so I can use those passes until the end of May and Kristen really liked it (but she likes most horror movies anyway). Kristen even assured me that it was good.

Mark my words: Dragonball Evolution will be a box office disaster. Everyone in Asia hates the film. Every fan of Dragonball hates the film. In short, everyone who has seen the film (in the countries where it is out and through bootlegs) hates it. And the IMDb rating (3.4 and only getting lower) is nothing to be happy about.
Revised Box Office Prediction: $4 million opening weekend (since it's probably getting 3,000 theatres on opening weekend with it being Easter and all).

Re: March 27th Tracking
I just love it when a film hits a number so big for its price that it's worth taking it just for those numbers. I don't even care if it drops off now because everything else after its OW is just gravy. Anyone else notice that the horror movies so far this year have exceeded expectations?

The Haunting in Connecticut really wasn't bad. I thought it had a really good (and true) story. I liked the ending a lot. It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen but in no way was it a bad movie. And the bodies with the wierd writing carved into them was legitimately creepy.
Re: March 27th Tracking
I might have to check it out soon.

I dont think i could agree with you more. having seen the movie myself and fan of the series will want their money back and anyone who isnt a fan of the series will not be interested in goku's high school drama. also the movie sucked major donkey dick. the only thing it has going for it is its 70 minute run time.

I Kinda wished I had picked Sin Nombre. Cheap PTA gainer, although the IMDB score is so-so.

You kinda wish? Damn, I think its in the running for steal of the season...
Which reminds me. I know you are insanely busy Shryke, but do you think you can bring back your grades each month? I always looked forward to that! If you don't have time that's understandable, but if you can, please do!

Re: March 27th Tracking
I'll think about it.
I can say this... Round One was not kind to Donte, as it looks like he'll be cut in all but the FY Ultimate. Take cover, people...

Ha, yeah, only kinda because I wouldn't use a real wish on a movie based game No, really though, I almost picked it and didn't in a few leagues, instead I went with a $3 pick that will probably earn me nothing (Mutant Chronicles).

Re: March 27th Tracking
The official results will be on their various threads in a couple of days, but here are the UNofficial results of the January Super and Regular leagues.
Ultimate FY
IMs go to: NSpan (1st place); silversurfer19 (2nd place); and geezer9687, J-Man and Spectre (tied for 3rd place)
Eliminated: nobody. Red Zone was six players deep and seven players dropped out, which means that the Red Zone will be only five-deep in Round Two.
Ultimate HY
IMs go to: silversurfer19 (1st place); undeadmonkey (2nd place); and geezer9687, J-Man and Spectre (tied for 3rd place).
Eliminated: Eleven were scheduled to be cut, and six dropped out, leaving five. Those five look to be Donte77, Thomassi87, Lordagoth, Alyson and wesvolk.
Box Office FY
IMs go to: Shrykespeare (1st place); geezer9687 (2nd place); and J-Man and Spectre (tied for 3rd place)
Eliminated: Seven were scheduled to be cut, and four dropped out, leaving three. Those three look to be Donte77, Alyson and lillylovelost.
Box Office HY
IMs go to: same as in Box Office FY.
Eliminated: Thirteen were scheduled to be cut, and four dropped out, leaving nine. Seven of those nine will be: undeadmonkey, Ron_Burgundy, Chienfantome, Donte77, Alyson, lillylovelost, and becs. There is currently a very close race between three players for that last spot, which will go to either thegreenarrow, chugsthemonkey or rasgriz.
Ultimate Regulars "We'll Be Back"
1st place: brockman81
2nd place: NSpan
3rd place: Shrykespeare
Well done, brockster. Well done.
Box Office Regulars "Oh Nine and Counting"
1st place: geezer9687
2nd place: Shrykespeare
3rd place: JohnErle
Way to go, geeze. Another victory for you.
Brockster and geez, you get to pick the "themes" for the May-July leagues. Good luck!

Yeah... I wouldn't call that a choke. It was a brutally hard fought game with a heart-breaking ending against the team playing arguably the best basketball in the tournament.
GOOOOOOO SPARTANS!!!

It's interesting that Michigan State is your team. I would have figured you to be a Boston College fan.

Re: March 27th Tracking
Well, I am also a UMass fan, being from western mass. I fell in love with Michigan State when they made their back to back to back final 4 runs, eventually winning the championship with Mateen Cleaves and Morris Peterson. Loved them ever since. I even have a Mateen Cleaves Michigan State autographed basketball card.
Re: March 27th Tracking
They were playing the ISU-MSU 1979 championship game today on the Big Ten Network after MSU's win. It was funny watching my brother's friend's dad playing the point for ISU.

I did have it in one league because I remember Under the Same Moon doing really well last year and because i thought it would be the best pick with the 5 dollars i had left ha ha... 9 PTA points so far, I just wish i had it in more.

Re: March 27th Tracking
Oh, SHIT. I fucked up badly.
It seems I miscaculated in the Box Office FY tournament... There were 60 players registered, and the bottom 10% (or 6 players) ended up being cut in Round One. It turns out that Donte finished 53rd, or seventh from the bottom.... which means he's still in this one. He was ousted in both HY events, but he's still in the hunt in both FYs.
My apologies to Donte, and I give him permission to kick my ass (virtually speaking) at the next opportunity. (and no, you can't have my IM)
