Awesome Trailer...Awful Movie

Hello All, it's been a while since I started a thread but I had an experience last night that got the wheels turning in my head. I rented 'The Foot Fist Way' finally and was pumped to watch it. I remember watching the redband trailer over and over and laughing my ass off. I even took it on my FM slates based on the trailer. So needless to say, I was pumped to watch it last night. Boy was I disappointed. It seems like all of the funny parts in the movie were what they showed on the previews. I watched a little over an hour of the movie and then turned it off. I couldn't even finish it!!! Afterwards it got me thinking though, when has this ever happened before???

So here's my idea. Let's get everyone's top 5 list of trailers that made you extremely excited to see the movie, but when you watched it you were sorely disappointed. I'll start...

I totally forgot about Across the Universe! But that was bound to happen to any fan of the Beatles. Should have known it wouldn't live up to expectations.

The WORST Movie Trailer EVER

I can completely agree with that. When my wife saw the trailer for the first time, after I had been telling her that this was supposed to be a great movie, she was very underwhelmed. I think that's why she didn't have it on any of her slates. She thought it looked incredibly cheesy and very 80s. And it is true, it does look like all the best segments are just spliced together randomly. I do hope it matches up to what everyone on here says when I get around to seeing it in a couple of weeks.

One I can think of on the top of my head is Chicken Little. The trailer promised so much, and yet I was severely let down when I did get to see it. All the best bits of that movie were in the trailer. Also, The Crappening looked half decent from its trailer too.

they didn't show that trailer in the US.. we actually got a good one.. i NEVER would have watched it if we got the international trailer

Pineapple Express. The trailer made the film look funny. Pity it wasn't.

Yeah, I agree with Pineapple Express, even though the Unrated version makes the film flow better as a whole.

Umm.... what were you expecting from the trailer?

The teaser was great and the final trailer was fine but when the film came out, I realized how much had been hidden from me (as in, how Michael Bay fucked it up).

what exactly did he mess up, other than having megan fox in it, we all know your hate for her?

He fucked up the looks of the characters (he just had to modernize the look), he changed all of the characters and added a pointless government/military subplot.

Evereybody at my school hated Cloverfield, but that movie is exactly like the trailer.

I remember movie theaters having to put up signs saying that people might get motion sickness from watching that movie.

Pineapple Express trailer was great. "Paper Planes" pretty much made that trailer worth watching a whole bunch of times.
