Saw that on Friday on both First Take and The Herd (on ESPNU, not radio). I wouldn't mind having a good reciever being a backup kicker (or any player actually) it can save you a roster slot or help you if your normal kicker goes down. I remember when the Rams had that happen and they had to do 2 pt conversions the rest of the game (they made them all too, when they were "The Best Show on Turf").

One advantage to having a Vietnam Vet army medic as your team's trainer. The trainer (Jim Pizzutelli) was over the boards and onto the ice before the first drop of blood hit the ice. Quick reaction time and training absolutely saved Malarchuk's life.
