And now we are hit with a real tragedy...
Billy Mays, the greatest Pitch Man of all time, has passed. He was 50. What a worldwide tragedy. I am so heartbroken right now. Whoever thought we were safe was clearly mistaken....

What was the cause of death?

They don't know. Wow, this is sad. I love him so much. He made people like watching commercials.

I actually read the story on the Internet. It sounds similar to the way that Natasha Richardson died earlier this year, except instead of a skiing accident his head injury came from a rough plane landing.
In short, he most likely suffered a head injury and died from internal bleeding as a result. Earlier in the day, Mays didn't feel any effects of what happened (similar to Richardson) but the effects probably occurred later (also similar to Richardson and many other victims of head injuries) and it's possible he fell into a coma that he never got out of.

Hell, I thought Shryke died or something. Put this in this in the obituaries next time... LOL. I'm sorry he's dead, but he came off as a real jerk on his "Pitchmen" show. I wish it were the ShamWow guy instead... That guy deserved it much more.

I'm just as puzzled. And I have to say, as insensitive as this may sound, we really need to cool it a little with these celebrity death memorials. They're just people, like any of us. And one thing that happens to all people no matter who they are or what they do for a living is death. All of a sudden the washed up weirdo pedophile musician who everyone loved to hate and the annoying Oxyclean guy are being revered as if just a few weeks ago everyone wasn't ceaselessly making offensive inaproppriate jokes about them. I'm not talking this site in particular, I'm just saying in general. It's sad, yeah. Death is a sad thing, but it's not like we knew them personally, no matter how much we might feel like we did.

I don't remember people ever not liking Billy Mays, Ipkiss. But the thing was that he was just 50 and it was so random.

Wait...you guys are serious? I couldn't fucking stand those commercials! Not only was he annoying as shit in those commercials, He's selling shit no one needs, and honestly at 50, he's accomplished more than some friends of mine I have lost over the past few years who never even got to drink legally in a bar, so I'm sympathetic as the next guy, but within reason and relativity.

You do realize that he gets to choose what he advertises because if he likes a product, all he has to do is ask and he will get the job advertising for them, because commercials with him just sell better than any other commercial that company could come up with.IPKI$$ wrote:Wait...you guys are serious? That makes him no less annoying to me. Actually, maybe the exact opposite.

And Michael Jackson doesn't?
Nope. Not in my opinion. He's a child molester.

I loved everything he did. He's on my list of hero's. Anyone that can make commercials entertaining is brilliant, especially when it is shit no one needs. Clearly, you disagreed.
Re: And now we are hit with a real tragedy...
They say deaths come in 3's. Leave it to Billy Mays to throw in an extra one for free
Re: And now we are hit with a real tragedy...
I'm with IP on this.
IP on Billy Mays.
One less annoying person cluttering up the brains of the world by shilling useless crap.
Now if we can only get the rest of these annoying commercial "celebrities" to get head trauma and die...
And no I didn't really care that Michael Jackson died either. People die and it sucks for their families and friends (or their chimpanzees) but it in no way affects me. Sure Jackson had great music back in the 80's but lately the only thing he has done is go broke and pay off civil suits and be fucking weird. His kids will be much better off without him since now they can stop wearing masks in public with their albino molester father.

i agree with you guys, yea it sucks that people die and i feel bad for the family, but if MJ was still alive most people wouldnt give a shit, but now that he's dead he is bigger than elvis and the beatles. and not to piss anyone off, but if those guys were alive the probably wouldnt be loved as much either. I bet if Britney died she would be heralded like the greatest thing ever just like MJ is now.

Wow, I thought everyone was talking about Willie Mays, no clue who Billy Mays is. I'm with the anti-obit crew, I mean essentially you are placing undue greater value on the life of someone with even a small amount of fame, as if that makes them a greater person. I am all for being reverent and honoring the contributions of others in their passing, but ultimately none of those who have died in the past week will negatively impact the world by passing so I don't see why people are acting like they were Mother Theresa.

They may not negatively impact your life, considering you don't even know who Billy Mays was. But to those of us who enjoyed his presence, it most certainly will have a negative impact. Its different than with Michael Jackson, who was just completely nuts and molested children and hadn't done the thing that made him popular in many many years. Billy Mays was at the top of his game when he went out. My friends and I just had a conversation last week about how funny it would be to see Billy Mays do a commercial for the fleshlight. We even talked about filming one ourselves, and now he's gone.
So maybe to you this isn't negative, and doesn't have an impact on your life, but to me, I loved watching the guy. He was the best in the entire world at his job, and I loved watching him perform his craft.

Geez - That truly defines what I believe famous is. It is "Well known amongst people who like that sort of thing"
Re: And now we are hit with a real tragedy...
Michael Jackson's accuser just came forward and said he made it all up for money.
"It's a jump-to-conclusion game, y'see?"
