First poll is up. I personally believe it should be as lopsided as the seeding suggests. And how funny is it that Queen and David Bowie are facing off against each other?
Re: FM Best Artists in the History of Rock and Roll (Tournament Page 1966-1975)
Hendrix takes down The Band, although it was closer than I expected.
Black Sabbath vs. The Stooges up. Should be interesting.

Donte about half of those bands are already in the other era and wouldn't be counted. The other half would have had little to no affect on the bands that made the poll. You couldn't honestly expect me to wait 2 weeks to put up polls just for you can you? The show must go on.
The Doors, Led Zepelin, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath and the Who made it. The Beatles, Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and The Animals already made the other poll. And every other band you posted wouldn't have enough had enough votes to move on even with your votes included.
Get here faster next time!

I think I'm one of those rare Black Sabbath fans who prefers pretty much everything Black Sabbath produced after their classic Ozzy period. I like Ozzy as a showman but prefer Dio on vocals. Or even Ian Gillan who is badly under-rated as a lead singer for Sabbath. They've got my vote here but my heart is with a different era.

Black Sabbath wins a tough battle over The Stooges.

AAAHHH!!! How do the almighty Stooges lose to a band who made about 5 good albums and 1800 crappy ones?? It's like if Freaks and Geeks or My So Called Life lost to the Simpsons...oh wait, that did happen. Nevermind.

They put up a decent fight but I think in the end Sabbath were the clear winner. A Shame.

Can someone please explain to me what kind of brain cramps we were all suffering by at least not even mentioning Elvis Costello (And The Attractions) for 76 - 85? I will honorarily be throwing him in for 86 - 95 even though his best work was in the previous decade.
Oh yeah, and what happened to The Police??????? D'oh!!!!!!

because, at the end of the day, you could easily squeeze every worthwhile stooges song onto a single CD.. whereas, with sabbath, you couldn't rock out to the high points of their catalogue in under 3 hours... plus, the godfathers of metal take precedent over the godfathers of punkmfrendo wrote:AAAHHH!!! if anything, i think this current poll is more interesting... both are great bands.. but, i daresay, Cream had higher highs--and never went anywhere near the Doors' lowest.. i'd rather listen to a lesser Ginger Baker drum solo than ever sit through Horse Latitudes or My Wild One again

The Doors have built an insurmountable lead, they shall move on to the next round.
The Who vs. The Allman Brothers up now. I predict another landslide.

Wow, I'm obviously the only one who isn't a huge Who fan. Besides Baba O'Riley and Behind Blue Eyes, I've never gotten a whole lot out of their music.

they're one of the few bands that were actually better live.. Live at Leeds is solid.. and they're the stand out act of the Rolling Stones' Rock'n'Roll Circus
though, i agree that this poll shouldn't be quite the landslide it's turned out to be

Live At Leeds is one of the best live albums ever created. In fact, I consider it to be one of their top three albums released, ahead of quite a few of their studio albums.

And I was right, The Who in a rightful landslide.
Led Zeppelin vs. Sir Elton up now.

I suspect this too may be a landslide. I mean, Led Zep could go on to win this thing.

Wow I forgot the Police. I should have had them in the list. Crap.
Re: FM Best Artists in the History of Rock and Roll (Tournament Page 1966-1975)
Another massacre. Led Zeppelin moves on without a problem. Next poll up in a minute.
Re: FM Best Artists in the History of Rock and Roll (Tournament Page 1966-1975)
Velvet Underground takes down Simon and Garfunkel in one of the closest polls yet.
Queen vs. David Bowie up next. I really didn't do this on purpose.
