Iron Man over The Dark Knight? Either that's a surprise or Marvel bribed the site.

Umm...yeah...So is this list in order or is it just "50 great movies that have come out in 2008?"

I'm surprised Indy 4 made a top anything list. Nostalgia has it's benefits.

Wow, The Reader is that good?

And Hamlet 2 should have made it over Tropic Thunder. It's funnier and plus, it didn't have the cop-out ending that the Thunder had.

Very surprising list to say the least. I really want to see The Wrestler every time i see the trailer i want to see it more. Surprised Tropic Thunder was that high on the list.

I did see Let the Right One In last week, have to say it was pretty damn good, so I'm happy that it made the list even though it is a Swedish film. Unfortunately, I hear rumors they are making an "Americanized" version Rolling Eyes

The remake is happening. It's currently scheduled for January 2010 and Overture Films is releasing it.

The remake was probably inevitable but at least I feel some encouragement that it's coming from Overture who've been pretty solid with their last few ventures. On the other hand, one of the defences for doing remakes is that they'll be available for a wider audience to see. Does Overture, Arthouse Specialist, strike anyone as the distributor to make this film available to a wider audience? I mean, what's the point if you'll barely be able to exceed the box office gross of the first film?!

So far Overture's highest grossing release is Righteous Kill with $40 million. And since they've got Cloverfield's director doing the remake and a Martin Luther King weekend release date, they should get a decent gross from it. Plus people will be wanting a real vampire movie since the Twilight movies broke so many vampire rules and they have limited gore.

You should give Religulous, Shine A Light and Man On Wire a shot. Religulous was an entertaining take on religion (it's not pro or anti-religion but does make you think), Shine A Light was a good companion piece to The Last Waltz and it looked great on IMAX and Man On Wire is my Number 2 film so far this year.
