If you check the rating out for Joe, 90% of the ratings are a 1 or a 10.

Sounds like something some of us would do around here If you have it, give it a 10, if you dont, a 1!

Re: G.I. Joe doesn't suck?
Buscemi hit that nail right on its head calling Julie and Julia to outgross G.I. Joe
Re: G.I. Joe doesn't suck?
Fuck you, Geez. Let's see you do better.
By the way when I did those predictions, no one expected G.I. Joe to be any good. Now that it is actually good, $150 million could happen and a sequel is now possible. Also, I had G.I. Joe winning the weekend (though with only $15 million more than Julie and Julia).

For this week, yes. When it's used up all of its opening weekend 80's-loving male demographic and word spreads that it's really pretty terrible aside from the action, we'll see where it lands. I don't think it'll even sniff $150 million personally, probably much closer to $120.

Let me answer definitively the question posed by this thread.
NO. G.I. Joe DOESN'T suck.
I just saw it. And I LOVED it.

I would go higher. If Watchmen got a very similar Friday to GI Joe ($24M to $22M) and that got $55M while being front-loaded as hell and being nowhere as popular. GI Joe could go as high as $70M. But probably not.
Wait, what was the point of this post again?

Re: G.I. Joe doesn't suck?
Weekend estimates from BOM:
1. GI Joe -- 56.2M
2. Julie and Julia -- 20.1M
3. G-Force -- 9.8M
4. Harry Potter -- 8.8M
5. Funny People -- 7.8M
6. Ugly Truth -- 7.0M
7. Perfect Getaway -- 5.7M
8. Aliens in the Attic -- 4.0M
9. Orphan -- 3.8M
10. 500 Days of Summer -- 3.7M (from only 817 locations; pretty good)
Gotta say, I'm surprised by GI Joe, and it did turn out to be a tad frontloaded. Not much though. I put it on my August slates because even if it was shitty, it was going to be bigger than anything else in that time frame.

Re: G.I. Joe doesn't suck?
I am not surprised one bit that Funny People dropped 65% in the second week. Not too many people have liked it.
And I actually expected The Collector to drop 70-80% rather than the 58% that it dropped since small independently made horror tends to drop extremely quickly. Interestingly enough, both theatres that ran it around here dropped it after a week.

It was that horror movie from the writers of Saw IV and Saw V that looked like a ripoff of The Last House On The Left. The Weinstein Company dropped it and Freestyle ended up releasing it. That probably why you haven't heard of it.
Also, District 9 will be opening on Thursday night at midnight at many theatres. Could this mean a $30-35 million opening weekend?

Don't act like the big man on campus on this one, Busc. If I remember right, a few weeks ago you thought The Collector was a fake movie on the BOMOJO schedule. Remember that?

Re: G.I. Joe doesn't suck?
Oh yeah. I blame IMDb for that though (since they listed the film as Midnight Man and as a Weinstein release until a few weeks before it opened). I also realized it was real when I saw posters on the Internet (it which the killer looks like a S&M fanatic).

From what I've seen of it, it's a better movie than any of the Saw sequels after Saw 2. The traps are really extravagant.
