Bruno Pushed Back To July!
Once again, Hollywood is playing Musical Chairs with their release schedule. Earlier this year, Fast & Furious was moved out of July and recently, 2012 vacated it's July date to move to November. So, since July is looking pretty barren besides Harry Potter & Ice Age 3, Universal has decided to move the new Sacha Baron Cohen's new character comedy, Bruno, from the extremely crowded month of May to July 10th.
Now instead of facing competition like Night At The Museum 2, Angels & Demons, Terminator Salvation, & Star Trek, it'll go against much lesser fare, like Land of The Lost and G-Force. It actually has 3 weeks with no comedy competition until July 31st - when Funny People drops.
(Adds to Top 10 list...)

Re: Bruno Pushed Back To July!
Despite this possibly being a good move, I'm convinced that it will keep moving back. With no new projects since Borat, Hollywood will think that people are sick of Sacha Baron Cohen. Also since Bruno was the least popular of the Ali G characters, Universal will probably want to bury it like they did with Ali G Indahouse (that one got sent to pay cable) or in a dead month like September.
I also have a feeling that this should have been out last year. I believe that it was finished by then and they could have opened it on Thanksgiving.

I seriously doubt that Bruno will be in the top ten, but I do think that it'll do better in the July slot.

Re: Bruno Pushed Back To July!
I did some serious PI work and apparently the only other movie scheduled to be released on July 10th, I Love Beth Cooper starring Hayden Panitierre (sp), is going straight to DVD. So it went from possibly getting lost in the shuffle to having a prime summer weekend to itself.
But yeah, I don't know why we haven't got a trailer or poster or anything yet. It's not a good sign since all the other May releases had trailers out before the end of 2008. I personally hope it won't get buried or plain ole dropped.
I don't think it'll do bad at all whenever it does come out. I never even heard of Sacha Baron Cohen before Borat and that somehow grabbed over $125 million in 2006.

Wow, the director of Home Alone and the first two Harry Potter films has seriously reached a low point if his newest film is going straight-to-video. I wasn't interested in the film anyway but I figured that it could manage at least $30-40 million in theatres.

Bruno is in a good position right now, but I don't think it is going ot be strong enough for the Top Ten. Not this year.

Really? Hollywood never thinks that people are sick of anything. That's why we get endless sequels and franchise continuations.Buscemi wrote:Despite this possibly being a good move, I'm convinced that it will keep moving back. I cant wait for this one have been Waitng for Baron Cohen to do something since Borat and I think it will do pretty well in July. It will defintley fare better because of July being less crowded than May.
