Ugly Truth and G Force

Ok so nobody has started it yet so I will...any tracking for this weekends new releases?


G Force is pretty much set for the same audience that showed up for Beverly Hills Chihuahua. The added 3D charge should put it over 30million, even though I really can't understand why.

The real questions are the Ugly Truth and Orphan

I believe the early tracking had the Ugly Truth's in the high teens. But they having been doing alot of advertising, and this could be a nice middle ground date movie. Raunchy enough for guys who have already seen the Hangover 5 times and romantic enough to please women who want to see the Proposal. Hiegl has proven that she might be a draw with 27 Dresses, but she is not Sandra Bullock so a 27-29 million ould happen if it breaks out.


Orphan doesnt seem like a big factor this weekend, but there has not been a hit scary movie since the Haunting in Connecticut, it doesnt look that strong but creepy kids a solid draw in scary movies. The creepy kid combined with the lack of similair movies in theaters right now could lead to a solid opening. This might be n uneventful mid teens opening or it could end up a suprise like the Strangers

Also any early tracking for Funny People or GI Joe?

Note: MTC was about 4 million too high for HPOT6, but all things considered, was really close. RS wasn't that bad either, a bit under 10 million too low.

GFORCE: High 20's
UGLY: Low 20's
ORPHAN: Mid Teens

GI JOE: Mid 30's (note their survey numbers don't match at all with other services)
JULIE & JULIA: Almost Mid 20's

G-Force marketing is everywhere. I see it hitting $100 million, so a $33-36 million OW should happen.

yeah I can see G force gettn close to 100 but it wont beat HP this weekend. I fully expect perfect getaway to be alot higher I have seem adds for it all over the place lately and alot for GI Joe too. I dont see it opening less than 45 ceiling is around 60

A perfect Getaway looks like the same movie we have seen over and over and over again... I can't see it making good numbers, no matter how hard they push it.

All those numbers look good. My predicts:

1. HP6 - $40-something
2. G-Force - $28
3. The Ugly Truth - $18
4. Orphan - $13
5. Ice Age 3 - $9

I'd put Aliens In The Attic and A Perfect Getaway in the single digits. Meanwhile, G.I. Joe will probably had a $30 million opening with $40 million being the ceiling. However, I expect its legs to be very short.

Aliens In The Attic will most likely tank. I think its the worst trailer i have seen in a long time.

Unsure about Orphan. The Ugly Truth should do pretty well and G-Force do decent bussiness no matter how stupid the premise is.

The Ugly Truth may be in trouble...it is currently sitting at a nasty 6% fresh on RT after 16 reviews with an average rating of 2.9 out of 10. A movie like this is one that really could have broken out with solid reviews. But with reviews this bad I don't see it opening over 20million.

Holy crap! Look at the Tuesday numbers!

Harry Potter is now back ahead of OOTP per day after falling 4% on Tuesday instead of 12% like OOTP. But that wasn't the insane part.

G-Force is in over 3,600 theaters, nice.

A lot of theaters for G-Force it might do more than orginally expected.

I am expecting 80-100+ mil for G-Force. When I saw Up, they played the trailer for it. The entire audience was cracking up and excited about it (especially the kids) so I have put it on a few slates. I expect BHC type numbers.

Every time I saw a G-Force trailer, there was no reaction other than silence. But then again, I hardly saw reaction during any Hangover trailer other than silence and look how that did.

Well shit potter fans. HP falls but it should have a rediculously small drop next week when it opens in IMAX

Potter isn't getting over $300 million anymore unless the studio pushes it. Very good for G-Force and Ugly Truth.

But didn't Harry Potter just hit $200 million in its 10th day of release? Of the eleven previous films to hit $200 million in 10 days or less, only one failed to hit $300 million. So it should definitely hit $300 million before the end of its run.

The last HP made $292 million and this one is making less per day than that one. It may have started out ahead but its not even $8 million ahead of it and losing ground every day.

Yea and the one that didn't was HP4. Actually out of the top 25 10day openings the only movie that wasnt a harry potter not to hit 300 was matrix reloaded. HP should add another 25 durring the week which will put it at around 245 and then with the IMAX release right after it will only drop maybe 20-30 percent pulling in another 25 or so and its totall after 2 and a half weeks will be 270ish maybe higher. It could limp its way to 300. And the reason it's loosing ground is the other one opened in IMAX the gap will go back up on wed.

Looks like Ugly Truth will do better than predicted...which is good because I have it on at least one slate (now I just hope it was a BO slate...).

Great for Ugly Truth and it looks like hangover will be passing $250 million before next weekend, wow. G-Force shoud be heading to at least $90 million.

In The Loop got over $25,000 per theatre. IFC has been having some good karma lately (such as changing video distributors and the fact that their films are actually getting released).

Meanwhile, 500 Days Of Summer and The Hurt Locker are still doing nicely in limited release. I imagine both films will be going wide in the next two weeks.

Next week will be a PTA dogfight between Adam (a Wednesday opener), Thirst and The Cove. In The Loop will be expanding and 500 Days Of Summer and The Hurt Locker will be getting wide releases.

Damn, I have been stuck in Yellow Zone limbo. Better than the Red Zone of death though.

well good news for potter fans for the first time since its opening HPHBP has made more than its predicessor with 4.5 on wed. thanks to its IMAX release. and now that it has it set a new record opening in 4450 theaters. and it should have a better hold this weekend than everyone keeps saying (except me).

Yeah that Wednesday will really help out HP. It gained about $600,000 on OOTP. It really needs to have a better third weekend than HP5 in terms of gross and not just hold better, which will be hard to do. G-Force is going to hit $50 million on Thursday probably, insane. And Ugly Truth is already $5 million ahead of HJNTIY after only 6 days.
