OKAY, PEOPLE. THE TIME HAS COME TO SAY GOODBYE TO TFR.

Post by Shrykespeare on Wed Oct 21, 2009 6:24 pm

Ladies and gents,

The day we've been anticipating is here.

The new Forum Boards are up, and ready to be used, and we need to start having all Fantaversians making the transition.

The address for the new boards is:

http://forum.reelsociety.com/

Now, just to be clear, there are a few things you should know:

1. It still says "The Latest Movie Reviews" at the top. This WILL change, very very soon.

2. There is no "portal" screen, with the features this place has. Again, that will change very soon, as soon as Barca can create it.

3. Your posts counts CAN and will be transferred, but Barca won't be able to make that happen until you've registered at the new site.

4. At some point in the next few days (I believe), the boards at this location will be locked, and you will be unable to post here any more. However, we will give everyone a chance to make the changeover, and get into the habit of posting at the new site so that returning Fantaversians are caught unawares.

5. Barca has tried to set up the boards in much the same way they've been set up here. However, if there is anything that is missing or needs to be changed immediately, please let him (or us) know!

So now, the time has come. Pack up your things and start posting over at the new place!

Here is that address one more time:

http://forum.reelsociety.com/

Ok people.. start MOVING. Its easy to sign up, and its not exactly a big change. Basically, it's the same format and the same people (hopefully with some new ones too), the main difference being that it is 'ours'. Ofcourse when the site/game are are linked together then we will have created a complete site, until then though, we can all continue enjoying each others company.

Also, Shryke, on the portal thing, I think it would be best if the 'portal' was actually a main page of the site with some RSS feeds, as opposed to something on the forum. I'm actually not even sure I can do it there, i'll double check and get back to you on that one.

I'm in, I like it, although I have to say it may look weird to new members to see that we have thousands of posts but there are only 2 on the boards.

looks good so far. only thing I dont like is it doesnt show the topic under the latest post section just the name. I dont know if that will change when theres been more than one topic though.

We will have a link to the 'archive' ie: this forum on the main page once the move is complete.

I'll fiddle around with that and see what I can do. I also want to see if I can increase the character count in the topic name itself, but i'll do those later on as I don't have too much time right now.

Pardon me, but can you make the requirements for joining the site a little easier? I'd like to keep the name I have on here, but it says you have to have at least three letters.

Let me know if you can. Also, the posts should be viewable to the public, I would say.

W, sign up and i'll change it for you.

Also, i'm pretty sure 'guests' can view the boards, not sure if you mean the 'topic title' though, cause no one can yet cause the board settings are being a bitch.

That's weird. The default avatar settings were that they weren't allowed, but I changed that.

It could be that your avatar choices are too big, i've put a size restriction on them so that they don't throw off the page like certain people have on here (cough-cough). The max size is 120x120. If it's too big just save it and resize it.

They can... I clicked on the person's name (because a lot of times I'll just click on the last response here) and it wouldn't let me in there. I was confused by the new surroundings.
