"the cover"? i'm not even sure what that means... is that like when Troy McClure married Selma to cover up his aquatic-life fetish?

(picture gone)

It stood out when you saw the cover with the other new release covers in the monthly video release flyers.

I am not sure anybody's french is that good, including Chien. LOL

I remember wanting to see Showgirls because I grew up masturbating to an orgy with the Saved by the Bell girls. Then I watched the movie and my fantasies were destroyed by the horrible acting. From then on she was a mute in the orgy fantasies... Wink

I remember watching Ghost Story (Dec 81) and ET (June 82) (though I doubt they played together) at the Melody Drive In and that would probably be my earliest films. The both would have been out in the summer of 82 when I was 5. And when SS was being created by Galactus.

No wonder why you're so fucked up, Donte. The second movie you ever saw in a theatre was a R-rated horror film.

Post by Donte77 on Wed Sep 02, 2009 11:37 pm

I would much rather have watched Ghost Story than Showgirls when I was five. LOL Showgirls is like a porno except it has worse acting and less sex. But yeah it does explain a bit of it doesn't it? Smile

I used to watch horror movies with my dad on TV. I remember watching The Fog, The Exorcist, Salem's Lot, Poltergeist, etc all before I was in school. Of course at about 5 or 6 I started having nightmares and then I was scared of horror movies until I was about 10. Ghost Story wasn't really all that scary anyway. I had nightmares about Linda Blair and the creepy floating vampire kids from Salem's lot for years though.

Then I hit about 9 or 10 and stopped being scared of horror movies and started liking them. Then at about 14 I started loving them and wanting to be scared again. Barely ever happens. Blair Witch and The Orphanage are the only ones in recent memory that made me uncomfortable. Exorcist, TCM and Poltergeist still do.

Since this is Keyser's thread, a few questions for the curious.

What do you consider your favorite movie?

What movie have you watched the most?

Well, the first movie that I ever saw in theatres was 'The Empire Strikes Back.' ** Second movie I saw was 'ET.' After that I couldn't be stopped! Very Happy

** -- I saw it in '81 and, yes, it was the greatest moment of a four year old's movie going life.

I don't know if that's too embarassing so much as it is shameful (on your parents part) that you had never been to a theatre until your mid teens.

The first movie I saw in the theatre was The Rescuers Down Under! Second I saw the re-release of Snow White, and my 3rd was Lion King.

I dont blame my parents, there are no theaters in the town that we lived in. Also my parents were not big movie watchers back then, yes they would occasionally rent a movie at blockbuster, but that was about it. Although they do go to the theaters two or three times a year now. I think i was able to influence them, that some movies are worth driving an hour for and seeing them on the big screen.

We were lucky to have a drive in since the closest theater was 30-40 miles away. Growing up in Indiana you are almost always within driving distance of a Drive In. 2 movies for 8 bucks (kids were free). 1 movie for 6 bucks each less so when there were 4 of us on a limited budget.

One of the things I want to do before I die is to go to a drive-in. That will be so cool. I think I already said my first movie (at least that I remember) was Ghostbusters, while I have been told I was taken to see Jedi. My nephew's first movie was last year and it was Indy IV. I think we'll try and keep that from him....

There are drive-ins in Australia, Surfer. It shouldn't be too long of a journey.

That's just not the same though. I'm waiting for the real deal. I've gotta get myself to some back and beyond destination in mid america and park up there. That's my idea of a drive in.

There's a very good one in Victoria actually. It's called Lunar Drive-In, check it out:
