Appreciate the kind words UDM. It would be frightening how smart I'd be if I could just remember half the shit I forget now.

So you must put my record of bad movies seen in the theatre to shame. The worst that I've seen in a theatre was Lake Dead (from After Dark's Horrorfest 2).

Congrats Keyser, and 1982 was a good year for me too. In that I was born.... My first movie I actually remember was Ghostbusters, though I have been told I was taken to see Jedi when I was only a year old (my parents must have been those kind of parents I hate....). And you are so correct on what is the best period of music. I find it hard to go a day without listening to some 80s Alt Rock. Today I have been listening to Mission Of Burma's Vs as well as The Clash's debut.

Here's to another 1000, but you may get there quicker than me as I seem to be slowing on the post front...

Did you see Rocky in the theater? My dad said Rocky was huge when it came out, he took my mom to see it.

Yep, saw Rocky in the theater, and yes, it was huge at the time. One of the first big word of mouth movies I can remember.

I actually saw Apocalypse now in a theater in France while I was an exchange student. Fortunately, it was in English with French subtitles. My French might have been good, but it wasn't crazy Dennis Hopper good.

Wow, that would be a difficult thing only because I look at lousy movies three different ways:

1. Movie generally regarded as sucking big time. Ishtar

2. Movie that others liked that I found atrocious Atonement

3. Movie that I had high hoped for that really disappointed Raiders of the Lost Ark 2

Throwing all of that aside, here's a partial list of some of the clunkers I unfortunately bought a ticket to:

The Last Remake of Beau Geste, The Devil's Rain, The Boy Who Cried Werewolf (It was the opener on a double feature at the drive-in with American Graffiti), Rabbit Trap, Roller Boogie, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Cannonball Run 2, Airplane 2, Videodrome, Blues Brothers 2000, Biodome, Congo, Superman III and IV, Catwoman, Showgirls, Magnolia, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Meatballs 2, Caddyshack 2, Howard the Duck, Motel Hell, Saturn 3, Best Defense(This one may have been the worst ever), Batman and Robin, The Postman, Rumble in Brooklyn, Barb Wire, Captain America, Jaws 3-D, Waterworld.

I'm sure there a ton more, but only so many memory cells left. There are worse movies than many of these, but fortunately, I did not pay to see them in the theater.

Wow, Videodrome? I would have loved to seen that in a theatre and seen the looks on everyone's faces. I got the Criterion DVD a while back at Barnes and Noble.

And I've read that Showgirls often gets a fun crowd at the midnight circuit.

Hint: I really like Videodrome.

When Showgirls played here, the theatre chain had a fit over the rating and pulled it from all of the area theatres after a week. A couple of weeks later, it turned up at one of the drive-in screens (oddly enough, that same drive-in now has a "no R-rated movies" policy).

Microfilm. I found it all on microfilm.

I do remember wanting to see it when I was five though. I had to wait another nine years and I finally saw it when I was 14.
