POV on the games/site from a returning player
Guys I'm lost as to how to play the game anymore. I can't navigate this site to find the June Regulars league or the HY Pt. 2 tourneys. I have entered both leagues through emails with Shrykie but am kinda frustrated because I cannot find anything on this site regarding said leagues. Have I missed something over the past 6 months? I am really wanting to play again but it seems that this site is dedicated more to posting about whats going on in the industry and world in general and less to actual game play. I know it may be the fact that I'm missing something as my age is starting to catch up with me and as I slow down, technology advances at the speed of steam locomotive.
I hate to be critical in almost anything for fear of angry rebuttal or feeling stupid after I get an explanation... (I'm preparing mentally for the latter of these two scenarios, so please be kind). But if I'm having problems trying to play, then potential new or returning players may also be having this problem and thus leave the site shortly after registering. Has another site been dedicated for game play only or is their a thread I'm missing? I guess I wish there was more of an "in your face" way of finding all leagues. I'm just totally and utterly confused (visualize, if you will, a complete and utter dumb ass logo HERE). I have looked on the league threads but still feel totally lost as there is nothing pertinent to leagues that have just started or will be starting. So I beg and plead for guidance from some of you weekend warriors of the site.
Help me Obi Wan Kenobi's, your my only hope of sanity on a happy return.

I absolutely agree with you. I wanted to play the June-August leagues after not playing for a while and it is nowhere to be found.Breinstein wrote:Guys I'm lost as to how to play the game anymore. Um, I want to be as nice as possible, but are you not seeing the forums for "Currently in play leagues" in both the Ultimate and Box Office formats? And do you not see the large area dedicated solely to the Super Leagues? I can tell you right now that we are only really running a handful of leagues. The major ones that are run properly and you know will be updated are run entirely by Shryke, and are the Super Leagues, half year and full year (still time to get in the second half year leagues I think) and the Regulars league. Other smaller leagues pop up with specialized formats like draft leagues or bankrupts leagues, and you can find those under the currently in play leagues as well. I don't quite see the confusion. These are actually higher up on the page than the random BS talking we all do. My suggestion to anyone that wants into a league is to e-mail our furless leader Shryke, because really he is responsible for running the games.

So a Regular Box Office June-August league can be found where exactly?

Re: POV on the games/site from a returning player
Nowhere until they begin. Ok, I think I see the confusion. We should start putting this in more places! I need to reiterate:
THE ONLY WAY TO SIGN UP FOR THE REGULARS OR SUPER LEAGUES IS TO CONTACT SHRYKESPEARE. WHETHER IT BE THROUGH AN EMAIL OR THROUGH A PERSONAL MESSAGE ON THIS SITE. HE RUNS THE LEAGUES, KEEPS TRACK OF SLATES AND POSTS STANDINGS. THEY ARE HIS BABIES! WE SHOULD ALL BE VERY GRATEFUL FOR HIS HARD WORK.
The thing is, there are no sign up sheets for these leagues. I guess we all just know after so many months is to e-mail him. Like I said, maybe we need to post this on every related forum just so people are certain. People can feel free to copy and paste what I wrote for the purpose of clarification on other threads.
If you are looking for a place just to post your own slates, try the slates forum. Go ahead and make a thread with your name on it and its a nice little home for all of your slates to reside. Helps keep your work in order so you know exactly where to look when you want to make changes. Then be sure to PM or e-mail SHRYKESPEARE those changes so he counts them on his standings!

J.I. and Brienstein, I have sent you both an e-mail explaining how to enter the leagues, along with direct links to the threads you'll need to view the results. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for the backup, geez. You're an awesome wingman.

Re: POV on the games/site from a returning player
Like I said a few times before, we need instructions in the INTRODUCTIONS subforum, which we need to expand on and put under a forum called NEW/RETURNING PLAYERS. I foresaw this a while ago. Someone please fix this as I'm not sure how...
Also, when you get 1000 posts, you should get your own sub-forum... thanks. LOL

Maybe we should make the sticky Regulars league threads now? Just put them up, and then have the one thread be updated by Shryke until the league is done and we sticky a new thread? Would make alot of things much easier.. It's about time Shryke got the mod so he can do anything he basically wants. I'll do it now, send me a PM if you have any questions about how to do something Shryke.

Thanks, Barca. It's about time I was elevated to near-godhood. I promise to use my new superpowers for good, not evil (unless I can TRULY use it to make Donte wet himself).
Re: POV on the games/site from a returning player
If I could suggest after the price list for new leagues (i.e. Jun-Aug) have been set and distributed someone set up a room for individual upcoming leagues with Geezer's note pasted at the top:
THE ONLY WAY TO SIGN UP FOR THE REGULARS OR SUPER LEAGUES IS TO CONTACT SHRYKESPEARE. WHETHER IT BE THROUGH AN EMAIL OR THROUGH A PERSONAL MESSAGE ON THIS SITE.
Perhaps followed with a link to the price list, in case somebody hasn't gotten or does not know how to get it.
While it may seem silly to do this, it may help to recruit new players if there was a little information put out there to guide them. You said yourself Geez that...
"The thing is, there are no sign up sheets for these leagues. I guess we all just know after so many months is to e-mail him."
I had forgotten and wasn't for sure when I emailed my info to Shrykie earlier this week if it was okay for me to throw it all in his lap. Truth is I love this game and have missed it for quite awhile. I've been kind of dealing with some personal issues and need an outlet and you guys and this game would be a great escape. I hope I'm not being too uptight about it but I was a little confused when I came back and I wondered what it would be like for someone who had never played but had heard about us. How would they be able to make heads or tales of the whole thing? Maybe this might help.

I think you are absolutely right and thank you for bringing this to our attention Ben Stein. The game isn't very user friendly to newer players. Probably because we haven't really figured out how exactly to draw new players. But at least putting that headline on all openings of new regulars leagues should help a little.

Breinstien, have you joined the italian box office league? It's pretty easy to use

Tried and failed to understand. Not enough time to brush up on my non-existent Italian vocabulary my undead friend.
Ben Stein, geez? I'll take that as a back-handed compliment.

If you click on the union jack flag it goes to the English version of the site.
