Ranking system suggestions
Well, i want to set one up, and Wross came up with a great idea that it be based around movie-characters and their level of 'coolness'.
Suggestions and ideas are welcome. I'm sure SS and Bouscemi will be happy with this, not they won't be stuck as moguls forever.

Re: Ranking system suggestions
How many categories were you thinking we'd have? If we can come up with a list, then all the members can vote on their rank of 10, or 20, or whatever.

It doesn't really matter how many we have. I guess the more we have though the more people will try to achieve them. So, on that note, the more the merrier.
Re: Ranking system suggestions
I think the funniest one to start off as would be "The Guy From That One Movie." Though not really a film character, I don't know if you could do any better than "The Fonz" as the top level. Some levels I'm thinking of:
Lower
The Guy From That One Movie
Jar Jar Binks
Patrick Star
SpongeBob Squarepants
Middle
Peter Griffin
Homer Simpson
Mr. Pink
Higher
Batman
Superman
Hanibal Lecter
Jules (Pulp Fiction)
Bond, James Bond
The Fonz
Lower
The Guy From That One Movie
Jar Jar Binks
Patrick Star
SpongeBob Squarepants
Middle
Peter Griffin
Homer Simpson
Mr. Pink
Higher
Batman
Superman
Hanibal Lecter
Jules (Pulp Fiction)
Bond, James Bond
The Fonz

"The Guy From That One Movie" is genius.
Probably put The Joker as one of the top dogs. Maybe some more superheroes in there. Peter Parker in the beginners, Spiderman in the higher-ups maybe? Something like that.

Re: Ranking system suggestions
These are all cool although 'The Fonz" shouldnt be the top, lol. I suggest that the ultimate top should have something to do with the game or the fantaverse instead of a character.

Re: Ranking system suggestions
It'll probably be something like "Ruler of the Fantaverse".
I'm thinking the "That Guy From That One Movie" will be a perfect start. Then i'm going to have some of those weird 'internet celebs' like the "As Cool as the Star Wars Kid" and "As Cool as the Numa Numa Guy" etc etc.. Then we'll go on to all the better movie roles.

If we're using Internet fads, the South Park episode about it (where they get Butters to sing "What What in the Butt") would be a good reference point.

If you're going the super hero route, then Wolverine would have to be one of the higher ups, or possibly Mr. Incredible. and if you're looking for a lame one for the bottom, it would have to be Meteor Man or Ant Man

In my opinion, the best ones from the current season are the 2-part Cloverfield parody and the election episode/Ocean's 11 parody.

Don't forget the Butters/Twilight one.. That one was a classic.

If you're going to go with "That Guy From That One Movie", it may as well be James Cromwell accrording to this poll of "That Guys"

Re: Ranking system suggestions
Did anyone see sort of God complex between Cromwell and Josh Brolin in W.? (probably because Cromwell towers over Brolin)

Re: Ranking system suggestions
There really is no limit to what ranks we can achieve with this. However, we've gotta make sure that if we want to do it, then the absolute coolest or whatever is almost unattainable. I don't wanna reach 2000 posts and hit the BMF title and then have nowhere else to go. So we can have a lot of rankings, but keep them at decent intervals.
It's funny, I was thinking about this idea this morning and the 3 ideas I could come up with where a single movie character so something like Star Wars/ LOTR rankings, cartoon characters (I always remember forcing my mum and dad to hunt down a spot in the Donald Duck section at Disneyworld. I think we were looking for one for about 45 minutes...), or just cool movie characters. And here I come and all of these have been mentioned. I think these do definitely seem to be the way to go.

Oops, I took too long to respond and got logged out! Abbreviated summary:
Why limit ourselves? Let's create ten or fifteen or twenty different categories with a title change every 100 posts or so. Once you move through a category to the top rank and get to 2000 posts, you just start over again in a new category. Your title will never stagnate because there will always be a new category to play in. We could even try to design a way to do personalized categories for the more discriminiating.
We're limited only by our creativity, and with the best and brightest of the Fantaverse joining in droves, the future isn't very limited at all!

That sounds like a great idea, actually. I propose we go with that idea, then we will always be reaching for the sky!

Why not HAL-9000? Sorry, I just wrote a blurb in a paper about Wall-E's nods to 2001: A Space Odyssey, AND watched part of Dr. Strangelove in a different class today, so I've got Kubrick on the brain.
