here's some accompanying music that should be appropriate for what lies above and below the video itself:

And Now... For Your Time-Capsule Consideration........

100 Essential Movies that EVERY American Should See

Movies are cultural--get over it. It's impossible to make a list of movies that everybody in the WORLD "should" see. It just doesn't make sense. These are the 100 movies that, in my opinion, are critical in understanding, appreciating, (and participating in) modern American culture. This is NOT my "favorite" 100 movies. And it's not the 100 "most important" movies. And, this part was difficult for me, but this is not 100 movies that everyone with an interest in the history of film should see... These are 100 movies that EVERY person living in America needs to see. I even included several films that I personally dislike--but that I found necessary to be included on the list. Even more painfully, I left off many of my absolute favorite films (including 8 1/2, Buffalo '66, Barton Fink, Bottle Rocket, Ed Wood, and Barry Lyndon) to make room for movies more appropriate to the list. My heart hurts. Anyway, here goes:

American Graffiti
Annie Hall
Apocalypse Now
Austin Powers
Back to the Future
Badlands
Beetlejuice
Big
The Big Lebowski
The Blair Witch Project
