Wow, its been a busy three and half months hasn't it! Well, for me it has anyway. First, we lost our beloved but not despised home, but before you can scream "I Love You, Jonas Brothers!" in an empty theatre,we had set up a rusty old shack which could do with a good paint job at lighting speed. Quickly, all the gang followed, and now here we are, back and better than ever (well, almost). Never have we felt so in control of our game, we set the rules, we make the prices, we even spend 3 hours a week at 1am on a Wednesday bashing away on our calculators trying to add up the latest scores. We really have succeeded at maintaining our game. We still have a long way to go, but almost daily we are finding new members joining. We are now approaching 100 which I've gotta say is fantastic. I thought maybe we'd get a hardcore base of maybe 30 of us over here, but we really have exceeded ourselves. Well done guys. However, I don't think that is enough. I wanna thank a few certain individuals who have helped this all happen. Without these individuals, who have taken up hundreds of hours of their own time, we wouldn't be where we are today. So to start:

BarcaRulz

I've gotta start with my Aussie pal, Barca. Without the quick idea and instinctive IT skills he possessed in setting up the site so quickly, we'd probably be making our slates on word and posting them on Facebook. He was so quick, we hadn't even been evicted from the site I shall not name. He basically stuck two fingers up and said "we can do it better, we don't need you!" And he was totally correct. I can't thank you enough for maintaining my obsession Barca, you literally are a genius.

Shrykespeare

Taking the Super Leagues from a nice addition to the game to the absolute definition of it, you have achieved a master stroke in this format. I never comprehended the sheer work and time involved in keeping these weekly updates going before working on the ladder leagues, and now I am totally in awe. I was trying (and really, really struggling) to keep one game going, you have been continuously keeping eight including the regulars leagues. That is astonishing. Your wife must really love you. Thank you so much for making the games we play so much fun and for hardly ever putting a foot wrong.

Buscemi

Finally someone who can beat me to a milestone. Man, I thought I was prolific, but you are something else. Almost every one of your posts offer something of interest too, which is saying something considering the volume. Quantity never out weighs quality, and your vast knowledge of the smaller independent films never fail to impress me, especially considering your age.

Geezer

Always one to oppose us movie critics on here, you provide a balance with your passion for the blockbuster. Along with Boussh, you have maintained the momentum of the forum which could so easily have been lost following our move, and because of that I am absolutely certain this forum still exists. Now just call the Best Rock Band ever to The Beatles and get it over with!!

Donte

I've gotta say, out of everyone, your posts are those I click on first in the morning. You know no depths when it comes to depravity and down right disgustingness, and for that we all love you (but not in that way, well actually, I think ash does but never mind...). You provide a wit and way with words not many can equal, along with sharing in Keyser and my debates on all things 'comic-y'.

Keyser Soze

I don't think you were on the old site for too long before they closed us down, and we never really got a great chance to know each other. I'm glad to say we've made up for it now. I get very envious however everytime I see another of your artworks you own (I will come and raid your house one day). It's also interesting to finally ind someone on here with more knowledge of comics than myself. I am in awe of that, and maybe by the time I'm your age I will be at the same level. You also have some of the most fantastic taste in music, and I love looking up each band you mention in your shuffles or videos that I haven't heard of.

NSpan

Okay, someone give this man a column, just to keep his wit and sarcasm to one place if anything. You are so fast I can't keep up with you, and you're a complete ass. That is all I have to say to you.

Okay, I've gotta go out now and so I'll just finish off by thanking the numerous others who have maintained the forum during its successful transition. Without the likes of transformers, Swedgin!, six, Roodey, JackO, UDM, W, mfrendo, leestu, Mr. I, Shaan and becs the forum would not be same, if it still existed at all. We've been through a lot in the last few months, and we have pulled through stronger than ever. I think that is a testament to the commitment and drive of all of us, and I for one am very thankful that this place still exists.

I'll finish off by thanking my wife for marrying me a couple of months ago, it really has been a busy couple of months and she still hasn't killed me. I am grateful.

Okay, on to the next 1000 posts.

She does love me. And, like you (being a newlywed) and I must occasionally, wonder, only God knows why. And as for how I'm able to do all I do, well, that's a trade secret. Let's just hope this game never institutes a mandatory steroid-testing policy. Twisted Evil (I'm totally 90% kidding, by the way.)

You do have a point, and I remember a conversation I had on the phone with Swedge a few weeks ago. We really need to start advertising this place. Even if it's only a little bit a day, it all will help in the long run. For example, I posted a link to our "Watchmen" thread on the Watchmen board on IMDb, and explained a little bit about the game. Don't know how many people saw it, but you get the general idea. I'm always trying to get co-workers and friends into it (Graywolf and SamIAm2000 are two of them, though they don't frequent the boards, they still play the game), and if everyone can do a little bit of advertising on Facebook, IMDb, or whatever other Message Boards and chat rooms we inhabit, we may be able to stretch that 100 to 200 members by the end of summer.

But... I... digress. Congrats on your 1,000th post, surfer. That's a lot of work on your part. Now go get some coffee, okay?

Thanks for the kind words mate.. Eventhough you're from NZ, i still have to admit you are one of the best posters we have.

Thanks for the effort you've put in over the past couple of days too, the site is already better IMO.

Congrats, and here's hoping for another 'quick' grand from you.

Thanks for the shout out. You make it sound as if I'm the Fourth Musketeer or something (with Surfer, Shryke and Geez being Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland and Oliver Platt*).

Also, what does it mean when the girl you like says that you're clingy? Is that good like one's best friend or bad like you're obsessed like a Star Wars fan?

Last, why is it that some people insist on saying massive as ma-HOO-sive. God, I hate that.

I am here to entertain and awe the Fantaverse. One of the great things about internet sites like this is they allow me to actually be myself as opposed to being polite for the mass of humanity to which I am thrust into on a daily basis working with the public. This place is like a refuge or a safe house. It is the church I come to for "Sanctuary!" when I need to be myself for a bit. I am going to respond to Busci's post as a way of reply to SS's comment about me and my posts. LOL

Buscemi wrote:

That is bad. Very bad. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but what that means is (and sorry to be a dick here but what would you all expect of me?) she knows that you are way into her and she does not feel the same way. She probably does like hanging out with you but she sees you as a friend or a big or kid brother type guy (depending on her particular mindset), not the make out, hold hands with kind of guy.

I have said this about an ex girlfriend (stress the "ex" part) because she HAD to be there at all times. If I went somewhere, she had to go. If I went without her, she would check up on me a few times that night. Some people just need to be alone occasionally and if they are not the loner type people (like I am) then it means they need to be around somebody else.

I did find it very ironic that you mentioned He's Just Not That Into You and this Kristen chick in a post. From the comments and scenarios you have mentioned she fits that title pretty well. I know you are a smart guy but you are in love with her and are full of hope and that is a bad scenario.

To continue with Donte's relationship column, any time one person says any of the following to another person it means they are not interested.

"I value our friendship too much..." means they like you but will never have sex with you.
"We will have to get together sometime..." and never actually make a time they are looking for someone who isn't you.
"I have just been really busy..." when asked why they don't call. They are busy calling someone else.
"I am just not ready to be in a commited relationship..." they mean with you.

I have been on your side for years Busci (I was the epitome of the high school weirdo) and had all of these things said to me at one time or another. I was in love with Emily from about 6th grade until college. We were best friends and we knew everything about each other. She knew how I felt but always said she valued our friendship too much to get involved. Meanwhile, I am listening to her guy problems and giving her advice because I wanted her to be happy and I knew that it would never be with me. I understand exactly how you feel and I wish I had had an older friend to clue me in earlier in life instead of having to figure this shit out on my own through years of pain.

And then in my mid to late 20s I came into my own I guess. I stopped being so quiet and started dressing better and I filled out from exercise and everything clicked. I turned it on and became a slut and a womanizer for a few years (mostly as a payback to other girls who treated me like shit in my teens, not just her ). I have said all of these comments to many many women and I never actually meant what I said. I always meant the second explanation. Always.

Again, sorry to be harsh. And hell, I may even be wrong. But I guess my advice to you is that if you feel this way about her, there is nothing I can do to make you not like her. BUT, don't let your feelings for her stop you from looking for someone else, someone who will appreciate you for you and not just for a friend or comic relief or to help with homework. I have been all of those guys and it sucks. It took me many years to realize that while I was trying so hard to be with 1 or 2 girls who didn't like me that I ignored 8 or 9 who thought I was great.

Words of wisdom from a Russian proverb;
"Pray to god, but keep rowing to shore."

Don't let her be your only focus. Sure, she is beautiful and smart and funny but there are hundreds of thousands of women who fit that bill and some of them may be into you. Keep rowing...

Wow. That was very heartfelt and profound, Donte. You surprise me.

My own experiences with women during my adolescent years taught me three immutable facts:

When a girl says "Yes", she really means "You'll do for the moment".
When a girl says "Maybe", she really means "No."
When a girl says "No", she REALLY MEANS "No."

When I started college, I'm just glad I didn't turn into Seth Rogen from Pineapple Express and start hitting on high school chicks.

And sorry, was I Kiefer or Oliver? I'm not suave enough to be Charlie, but neither am I sullen or moody enough (most days) to be Kiefer. I'm happy to be Oliver Platt, the chubby wise-ass. Which means, I suppose, that transformers would be D'Artagnan.

I do that occasionally. Being crude and grotesque hides my depth and wisdom. That is on purpose. "Never let them see you coming." LOL

Yeah there neeeds to be a class for teenage boys on how to understand women and translate their comments into male english. I offer my services as a professor. Smile

And on a side note, I have read the book He's Just Not That Into You and it is applicable to all sexes, not just as a woman's guide. A friend of mine from college would ask me for advice about the current guy she liked and then when this book came out a few years later, she called me and said that my advice mirrored a lot of what the book says. I told her to tell all of her friends to get that book because the dude is telling it how it is.

We live in such a polite society that we constantly lie or exaggerate in order to not hurt feelings but in actuality we are just prolonging the pain by leading them into false hope. This applies to careers, love life, family relations, etc.

As a female (ish?), I would say Donte is sort of right, at very least about the clingy comment. If you're just being clingy but she likes you, she probably wouldn't say anything. You know its bad if, its bad enough that she's saying something about it to you. If you heard this through a friend, there is the possibility that she is feigning dislike due to some perceived social pressure not to, but again not good because if a teenage girl really likes you she is probably going to be giggling to every other girl she knows about you.

As far as the rest of these...

"I value our friendship too much..." means they like you but will never have sex with you.
"We will have to get together sometime..." and never actually make a time they are looking for someone who isn't you.
"I have just been really busy..." when asked why they don't call. They are busy calling someone else.
"I am just not ready to be in a committed relationship..." they mean with you.

I don't think you can put people into a box like that really, personally I've probably used flavours of #2-4 several times and been genuine about it, but I'm pretty much genuine about everything I say/do, I don't really know how to be otherwise. It had nothing to do with me being "just not that into" them, but much more me being just not that into people/things/other. There was a guy I am pretty sure I used BOTH #2 and #3 on, who I had 2 dates with and was a legitimately nice/interesting guy I would have liked to get to know better & spend more time with, I just found myself dragged into other things (read: work) and basically never got around to making the time to see/call/e-mail/IM/etc... I swear I'm not intentionally malicious Neutral
The point of the book at least, I don't know about the movie, is just that. It may not be that they dislike you, or that they like someone else, its that they're "just not that into you" meaning not as into you as you deserve from a relationship. In general you will be alot more happy and healthy if you remove yourself from these situations and whomever it is will be more likely to come around to realizing what they're missing out on when you aren't there anymore, and if they don't, then they probably weren't right for you anyway.

Edit: Ahem, oh and thanks for the shout out SS, makes me feel special *fake tear*.

Donte pretty much nailed it. And he is right in all of his advice.

Meanwhile, I am listening to her guy problems and giving her advice because I wanted her to be happy and I knew that it would never be with me. Been there, done that, bought the fucking t-shirt.

And you weren't really harsh Donte, it was only the truth. Albeit a cruel, cold-hearted truth, but its not your fault. No real easy way to give that kind of advice. I commend you for handling it so admirably.
