Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
David Lynch was also offered Return Of The Jedi and turned that one down. Possibilities for Lynch's Jedi:
-Han Solo inhales helium during a graphic rape scene with Leia on Endor.
-Wicket gives himself a weird name like Milk or Dell and only appears in Luke's dreams
-C-3PO is always talking about that "damn good coffee"
-Darth Vader only talks backwards that has been reversed to normal but then reversed again to sound really odd
-Kyle MacLachlan plays Lando Calrissan instead of Billy Dee Williams
-The film takes a one-hour detour while Chewbacca goes to a nerf farm on his hover tractor to see Harry Dean Stanton, who is dying of cancer
-Half of the film contains really weird moments of surrealism, the other half contains scenes that aren't supposed to be funny but actually are in Lynch's sick mind
-And at the end when Luke kills Vader, it turns out of that he really killed Laura Palmer's killer and that Vader was already dead to begin with
And once the film ends, we all realize that we were really watching Dune.

I would watch that film. Throw in a sex scene between Jabba and that wierd little monkey looking gremlin thing that hangs around him. I bet Jabba's cock looks like a giant tentacle and is fully posable like an elephant trunk.

Platoon
As is, the scene is great but imagine had the pockets worked. The scene would have been awesome but they would have needed a different cover for the DVD.
Platoon
Pockets of fake blood intended to simulate gunshot wounds to Elias's body during the famous "arm-raising" scene malfunctioned and never exploded. However, Willem Dafoe's performance in that take was considered so impressive that the scene was left as is.

From Eagle Eye
That is.....kind of scary, actually. And not only for the disgusting, perverted, fucked-up things I've said over the phone.
From Eagle Eye
Shia LaBeouf stated that during filming an F.B.I. Agent told him and the cast that 1 in every 5 phone calls someone makes is recorded. To prove this, the agent had him listen to a phone call he made 2 years prior to filming.

Flashdance
Ladies and gentlemen, never underestimate the power of strip clubs and ripped sweatshirts!
And as a bonus...
Death to Flashdance, long live the new flesh? Doesn't quite have the same ring. Around the same time, Cronenberg also turned down Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun, Total Recall (though he almost did make this one), Return Of The Jedi and RoboCop. Imagine had those been made by him!
Flashdance
Paramount Pictures gave production rights to the original script for this movie to Don Simpson after Simpson was fired from his executive job with the studio, and many observers felt Paramount deliberately gave Simpson a terrible property in hopes he would fail and his career would be ruined. In addition, Paramount had so little faith in the box office potential of the film that they sold off 25% of the project days before it opened.

David Cronenberg was offered the chance to direct but turned it down.

Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
Sorry for the missing trivia of the day guys. I have strep throat and have been pretty out of it.
Trivia for 3-19-09 is from House of 1000 Corpses.
Trivia for 3-19-09 is from House of 1000 Corpses.
During its box office run, the movie encountered two instances of the number '666': At the beginning of its run, when its opening weekend was $3,460,666, and at the end of its run, when its per-theater-average (the weekend gross divided by the number of theaters) was $666 per theater.
Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
Trivia for the first day of Spring 3-20-09 is from Friday the 13th. I thought this was pretty interesting.
That makes it a bit more demented...
Composer Harry Manfredini has said that contrary to popular belief, the famous "chi chi chi, ha ha ha" in the film's score is actually "ki ki ki, ma ma ma". It is meant to resemble Jason's voice saying "kill kill kill, mom mom mom" in Mrs. Voorhees' mind. It was inspired by the scene in which Mrs. Voorhees seems to be possessed by Jason and chants "Get her mommy....kill her!" Manfredini created the effect by speaking the syllables "Ki" and "Ma" into a microphone running through a delay effect.
That makes it a bit more demented...

Hot Fuzz
Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg: making paperwork seem fun!
Hot Fuzz
Pegg and Wright interviewed many real police officers while doing research for the film. Many lines in the film such as "I prefer to think my office is out on the street" came directly from those interviews. The stylized scenes of Nick doing paperwork were inspired by the officers noting that paperwork is a huge part of the job but it is never depicted in cop shows and films. The visual style was inspired by Tony Scott's films.

The Return Of The Living Dead
Well, they were right.
The Return Of The Living Dead
The eye-test poster (seen most clearly after Frank and Freddy run into Burt's office after hearing the first re-animated cadaver) in Burt's office actually reads "Burt is a slave driver and a cheap son of a bitch who's got you and me here" if you put the letters together.
Well, they were right.

Trivia Of The Day (3/24/2009):
The Lost Boys
The Goonies with vampires? That would have been a fun movie. Damn you, Joel Schumacher! (just kidding, the changes still managed to make the film work)
Also, the description of the script version of The Frog Brothers reminds me of Russell in Up.
The Lost Boys
The original screenplay written by Janice Fischer and James Jeremias was originally about a bunch of "Goonie-type 5th-6th grade kid vampires", with the Frog Brothers being "chubby 8 year old cub scouts", and Star being a boy instead of a love interest. Joel Schumacher hated that idea and told the producers he would only sign on if he could change them to teenagers, as he thought it would be more much sexier and interesting.

Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
Hmm I thought I posted trivia for the weekend yesterday but I must have had an error. Here it is again.
Trivia for 3-21-09 was from Top Gun. It pays to be short.
Trivia for Sunday, 3-22-09 was from Pulp Fiction.
And the Trivia for yesterday, 3-23-09 was from Batman Forever. Holy fate's fickle hand, Batman!
Trivia for 3-21-09 was from Top Gun. It pays to be short.
While Tim Robbins played the role of a RIO (Radar Intercept Officer, or the "guy in the back seat"), he could never fit in the cramped cockpit of an F-14 Tomcat. In fact, it's widely rumored that Tom Cruise is the only actor playing a pilot in the film that actually meets the Navy's maximum height requirements for the F-14!
Trivia for Sunday, 3-22-09 was from Pulp Fiction.
Jules' "Bad Mother Fucker" wallet actually belongs to Quentin Tarantino. The inscription on the wallet is a reference to the theme song of Shaft (1971).
And the Trivia for yesterday, 3-23-09 was from Batman Forever. Holy fate's fickle hand, Batman!
Val Kilmer learned he was the new Batman while he was literally in a bat cave in Africa, doing research for The Ghost and the Darkness (1996) He accepted the role without reading the script.
Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
Tirvia for Tuesday, 3-24-09 is a tribute to why we love certain directors. I hereby nominate 3-24 to be Gulliermo Del Toro day.
Trivia from Pan's Labyrinth
and the final piece (yeah there are three trivia bits today, so what?) is relating to the post about Let the Right One In subtitles.
Trivia from Pan's Labyrinth
Guillermo Del Toro' repeatedly said "no" to Hollywood producers, in spite of being offered double the budget provided the film was made in English. He didn't want any compromise in the storyline to suit the "market needs".
Guillermo Del Toro' gave up his entire salary, including back-end points, to see this film become realized.
and the final piece (yeah there are three trivia bits today, so what?) is relating to the post about Let the Right One In subtitles.
The English subtitles were translated and written by Guillermo del Toro himself. He no longer trusts translators after having encountered problems with his previous subtitled movies.

Trivia Of The Day (3/25/2008)
Rambo
Yeah! Way to defy the government!
Rambo
Rambo was banned in Myanmar (formally Burma), and bootlegs are a hot item. Burmese Freedom Fighters have even adopted dialogue from the movie as battle cries, most notably "Live for nothing, or die for something." Sylvester Stallone said "That, to me, is one of the proudest moments I've ever had in film."

Did not! It was there the whole time. (editor's note; Please disregard the edited 1 time remark on that post. It is lying!)
Okay maybe I was so excited to be posting about Del Toro that I MAY have forgotten to say the movie. Maybe.
LOL
Trivia for 3-25-09 is from The Running Man (see I remembered this time)
Dweezil Zappa, son of legendary American composer Frank Zappa, has only one line in the movie: "Don't touch that dial!", that being one of his father's most famous lyrics from the song "I am the Slime" (from the album "Over-nite Sensation", 1973).
Gotta love Frank and his hilariously named kids.

Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
I think I'll try to start playing this game too. One from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind":
François Truffaut was constantly trying to improve his English during production, and he was self-conscious of his heavy French accent. When he delivered the line "They belong here more than we," ***(spoiler deleted)*** several crew members thought he had said "Zey belong here, Mozambique." Several T-shirts were printed with this quote as a joke; when he heard about it, Truffaut burst out laughing.

Cobra
So they turned 1980's cheese into a comedy classic but also managed to salvage the cheese? Brilliant!
Cobra
When Sylvester Stallone was signed to play the lead in Beverly Hills Cop (1984), he did a lot of work on the screenplay, turning it into an action extravaganza that the studio couldn't afford. He eventually left Beverly Hills Cop and channeled his ideas for that project into this movie.

One for today form 'The Abyss':
Michael Biehn's character gets bitten on the arm by another character. This happens to him in every James Cameron movie he's in - see The Terminator (1984) and Aliens (1986).
Director trademark? *lol*
