Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
The trivia for Sunday, 03-01-09 is from one of the greatest movies ever made.
Conan the Barbarian.
Completely unrelated trivia is that if you think the movie is not great, you are a buffoon and probably have sex with farm animals...
Have a great weekend.
Conan the Barbarian.
Although Conan and Valeria are shown together frequently throughout the movie, he only speaks five words to her in the entire film - and they're all in the first thirty seconds after they meet: "You're not a guard", and "No".

Trivia Of The Day (2-29-09):
From Pineapple Express
Yes, James Franco. It's not stealing if they're right next to you
From Pineapple Express
James Franco's line "It smells like, God's Vagina," was actually originally improvised by Seth Rogen, but James Franco told him it wasn't funny, then used it in the next take.

Random trivia for 3/1/2009, Full Metal Jacket
Stanley Kubrick was well known for having a very small crew on set. On one occasion, after the electrician finished lighting a set, Kubrick told him, "Okay, this is how I want the scene lit and I'm not going to change it." Kubrick then sent the man to fix some wiring in his house.

Not exactly "written" as this was paraphrased from Genghis Khan.
“The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy, to drive him before you, to see his cities reduced to ashes, to see those who love him shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters.”
Obviously they toned it down a bit and got rid of the raping references. LOL I think they should have added more raping references.
Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
Trivia for 3-02-09 is from The Incredibles. It is actually two separate pieces but I find them hilarious when read together.
And then...
You cannot make this shit up. LOL
When Mr. Incredible is called into Mr. Huph's office, at one point Mr. Huph places his hand on a piece of paper. Judging from Mr. Incredible's expression, it seems like this paper is a termination notice. Actually, it is a memo to all employees, letting them know they will be responsible for buying all of their office supplies. It also states that parking will be metered by the hour, and that their electricity usage will be deducted from their paychecks. The letter concludes by saying that Insuricare has "recorded its highest profits in years."
And then...
In the Singaporean version of the film, the company "Insuricare" is translated into "Black-hearted insurance company" if read literally in the Chinese character subtitles.
You cannot make this shit up. LOL

Trivia Of The Day (3/2/2009), from Clerks
Randall and the Happy Scrappy Hero Pup lady are not actually in the room at the same time. Jeff Anderson refused to read the list of porno movies in front of her, and particularly in front of the child (although the reaction shots of the Happy Scrappy Hero Pup lady were obtained by reading the list to her).

Trivia of the Day (3-2-09):
From Anchorman
Now Anchorman is a hiliarious movie and all, but show of hands of how many people would love to see that movie made...
From Anchorman
Adam McKay has said that in the first draft of the script, the story was about a planeload of news anchors who crash in the mountains and discover that the plane which they collided was carrying monkeys and martial arts equipment, leading to a battle between cannibalistic newsmen and star-throwing monkeys.

That would make a good sequel to Tropic Thunder. This time, they could spoof films such as Alive and Vertical Limit.
Possible Title: Tropic Thunder 2: Les's Revenge

I would have finished watching the movie if that was the plot...

Trivia for 3-3-09
Excalibur. The 1981 Arthurian legend.
Poor guy. He couldn't get the rights to Tolkien so he decides to make this movie instead. Nice. And I am glad that Peter got his shot at Lord of the Rings.

John Boorman was originally aiming at making a movie based on "The Lord of the Rings". However, he did not acquire the rights, and decided to make this movie instead.
The trial by combat set in the woods was originally to be the set for the Rivendel counsel chamber in John Boorman's version of "Lord of the Rings", which failed to get made.

Nic Cage and Gary Oldman in Dumb & Dumber? That's priceless.
Off-topic but anytime I think of Gary Oldman, I automatically think of the scene in Leon (The Professional) where he yells " EVVVEEEEEEEERYOONNE!!!"

Trivia of The Day (3-3-09):
From Evan Almighty
The production wastes an ENTIRE DAY simply because they saw a cloud they liked. Something that stupid can only happen in Hollywood. And maybe that's why Evan Almighty is the most expensive comedy ever made.
From Evan Almighty
For a cloudburst scene, it took hours to raise a pipework "rain rig" by crane over the Ark and then to position the hundreds of extras and set the equipment. After a practice take, the filmmakers saw an attractive cloud which they hoped to use as background while Evan speaks -except that the rain rig would be in the shot. During the hour it took to move away the cranes, of course the cloud moved away. The area was reset for the cloudburst scene (another hour) and by then the day's sunlight was spent. The scene was put off for another day.

Trivia Of The Day (3/4/2009):
from Robocop
The Michelin Man fighting crime? Sounds like a bad movie classic in the making.
And because this one is too good to pass up.
See, movie characters can stop criminals even when they're not on film.
from Robocop
Arnold Schwarzenegger was briefly considered for the role of RoboCop, but those involved with the film were concerned he would be too bulky in the suit and end up looking like the Michelin Man.

In Sacramento, California a robbery suspect fled into a darkened movie theatre to escape pursuing police. He became so engrossed in the movie playing on screen, Robocop, that he failed to notice that police had evacuated all other patrons from the theatre. When the lights flipped on, the stunned man was taken into custody.

My trivia for 3-4-09 is from one of my favorite comedies ever, Super Troopers.
That is why small budget movies like this are funnier than huge budget comedies. You cannot buy humor for any amount of money that would compare to calling your parents "chicken fuckers" on camera.
The couple that Farva ('Kevin Heffernan') says "chicken fucker" to are actually Heffernan's parents. They knew he was going to say something rude, but weren't prepared for the "chicken fucker" line.

Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
Trivia for 3-5-09 is from a Kubrick masterpiece, The Shining. It also shows how goddamn insane he is. These really show how OCD someone can be while still maintaining genius.
The book that Jack was writing contained the one sentence ("All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy") repeated over and over. Stanley Kubrick had each page individually typed. For the Italian version of the film, Kubrick used the phrase "Il mattino ha l' oro in bocca" ("He who wakes up early meets a golden day"). For the German version, it was "Was Du heute kannst besorgen, das verschiebe nicht auf Morgen" ("Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today"). For the Spanish version, it was "No por mucho madrugar amanece más temprano" ("Rising early will not make dawn sooner."). For the French version, it was "Un 'Tiens' vaut mieux que deux 'Tu l'auras'" ("A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush").
For the scenes when we can hear Jack typing but we cannot see what he is typing, Kubrick recorded the sound of a typist actually typing the words "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Some people argue that each key on a typewriter sounds slightly different, and Kubrick wanted to ensure authenticity, so he insisted that the actual words be typed.
One of the shots in the part where Jack is bouncing a ball against a wall took several days to film. This was because the shot entailed the ball bouncing from the wall onto the camera lens as it filmed. As Stanley Kubrick was so determined to get this precise shot, the camera kept rolling while the ball was continually hit against the wall in the hope of it bouncing back and hitting the lens. It took everyone on the entire unit having a go at it in between other shots before the shot was finally achieved after several days.
Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
Spending several days on just one shot is not genius, it's just stupid.

Trivia Of The Day (3/6/2009), from Gremlins:
Talk about a very different movie had Gizmo become the villain!
Joe Dante says that in the original draft of the script, Gizmo turns into Stripe. But, Steven Spielberg overruled this plot element saying that Gizmo was too cute to be turned evil, and it would be too confusing for audiences to understand that he is evil for the second half of the film. This became stressful for Chris Walas who had designed the Gizmo puppet only for the actions that happened in the first half of the movie and had to figure out how to make it work in the rest of the film, hence why Gizmo is always seen in Billy's back pack for the rest of the film.

Man I would have been broken hearted if Gizmo had turned evil. He was my favorite when I was a kid. I even had toys and sticker books for the gremlins. LOL
Trivia for 3-6-09
Batman (Burton's 89 version)
Smart move Jack. Moral of the story is never turn down the percentage when offered it against an up front fee.
Trivia for 3-6-09
Batman (Burton's 89 version)
Jack Nicholson got the role of The Joker but demanded top-billing and a lucrative deal that gave him royalties on all merchandise. Jack Nicholson received a percentage of the gross on the film, and due to its massive box-office took home around $60 million. As of 2003 it is still the single-movie record for actor's salary.

Trivia from Carrie (1976):
THEN
Holy psycho woman batman..
The pig's blood dumped on Sissy Spacek was karo syrup and food coloring, although she was willing to have real blood dumped on her
THEN
While filming the bloody prom sequence, Sissy Spacek's trailer was parked behind the set. After being covered in fake blood, for continuity purposes, Spacek refused to wash the effect off. She elected instead to sleep in her bloody clothes for three days of filming.

Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
hahaha Method acting taken to the psychotic level indeed.
I read an interesting one similar to that but it was not an actors choice.
So for 3-7-09 the trivia is from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre;
and related
Wow Spacek wanted to be in character but these guys didn't have a choice. Man no wonder I love that money. It is actual suffering and not acting...

So for 3-7-09 the trivia is from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre;
Due to the low budget, Gunnar Hansen had only one shirt to wear as Leatherface. The shirt had been dyed, so it could not be washed; Hansen had to wear it for four straight weeks of filming in the Texas summer. By the end of the shoot no one wanted to eat lunch with Hansen because his clothing smelled so bad.
and related
After getting into the old-age makeup, John Dugan decided that he did not ever want to go through the process again, meaning that all the scenes with him had to be filmed in the same session before he could take the makeup off. This took about 36 hours, during a heat wave where the average temperature was over 100 degrees, with a large portion of it spent filming the dinner scene, sitting in a room filled with dead animals and rotting food. Edwin Neal who played the hitch-hiker claimed "Filming that scene was the worst time of my life... and I had been in Vietnam, with people trying to kill me, so I guess that shows how bad it was."

Re: Fun and Random Trivia of the Day
And the Trivia for Sunday 3-8-09 is from Straw Dogs.
Pretty cool way to get the shot as opposed to Kubrick who would have filmed the shot for 3 days. LOL
In the scene where Dustin Hoffman's character first enters the local pub, Sam Peckinpah was unhappy with the other actors reaction to this stranger entering their world. Eventually, he decided to do one take where Hoffman entered the scene without his trousers on. He got his reaction, and these are the shots shown in the final film.
