Friday Estimate
Jonas Bros. - 4.8 (No Hannah Montana repeat)
YES!!! I know Saturday will jump higher on matinees. Let's say 4.8, 6.2, 5.7 17-19 opening weekend.

Re: 2/27 Tracking
Disney is way too overconfident when they have a movie coming out with a large fanbase. HSM3 could have made $200 million, but Disney's biggest advertiser for the movie ended up being the Box Office Mojo release date page. Disney built up no hype whatsoever. Same for Pirates of the Caribbean 3, and now this.
And I noticed that Box Office Guru doesn't have their Friday estimates up. I guess he's embarassed by his $40 million prediction.

For some reason I thought Hannah opened at 41M, so I had Jonas at 37M. I thought I was being safe but I guess I need to make sure and double check the details.

Re: 2/27 Tracking
Dear God, The Jonas Brothers bomb!! That's news to please my heart. There is still some sense in this mad world!! Would have been a great bankrupts pick. Street Fighter bombs too. Slumdog just keeps on going. Obviously last Sunday's Oscar win has ensured the big bump for its following weekend. Taken still hanging in there too. Glad to see some decent movies proving there is still some audiences who appreciate quality.

Re: 2/27 Tracking
Was Crossing Over ever available in any leagues? It wasn't in the SL.
I'm so glad I dropped Jonas Brothers last Thursday, although, I'm kinda shocked by these low numbers. Does this mean it'll have less of a drop next week?

It probably will still fall pretty hard. Maybe Coraline will come back to 3D theaters.

Re: 2/27 Tracking
Thsi opening weekend (booxted by higher prices) kind of puts Inkheart and Paul Blart: Mall Cop into perspective.

Re: 2/27 Tracking
It wasn't really, was it? I mean, it was guaranteed a bad IMDB (maybe not that bad), but you must have obviously balanced that off with the rest of your slate being 8+ movies, right??? You may be out of the Super Leagues with that pick...

Re: 2/27 Tracking
Haha, I was going to post saying "Feel bad Donte, it was an awful pick," but I didn't want to sound like a dick. But Surfer went right ahead and did it for me.
Re: 2/27 Tracking
Yeah the rest of the slate has a solid IMDB and with Coraline scoring me points way out of whack with its $8 fee I am not completely lost. But it hurt badly.

Re: 2/27 Tracking
dont feel real bad man i had it on almost all my slates plus it totally killed my hot streak on hsx for the whole month i was constantly one of the top movers and then BAM! jonus bros and i lost half my money. of course on here i planed ahead and had picks in the high sevens and 8s to make up for that one so if you did that too then its all good.

Except for the fact that it cost quite a big chunk of your cash which could be better spent and hasn't made much money.

It wasn't quite a Semi-Pro amount of money but that 19 dollars could be useful elsewhere. Not much I can do about it now. And as I told Shryke, it is actually a good thing that the movie flopped. It is a sign that a bad economy may help weed out completely unnecessary, untalented, pseudo-musicians acts like this. I just didn't expect the american public to get so smart this weekend.
Re: 2/27 Tracking
People still actually go see them live Donte. And its not like it made 5 million. It wasn't that big a bomb. Almost 3 times as many people went and saw this as did Street Fighter. I don't think we should write the shitty music period off just yet.
