Total Annihilation. What do you expect though. Harrison Ford was the Will Smith of that era. Or is Will Smith the Harrison Ford of this era? Actually, the main difference is that Harrison was not only a Box Office draw, but his presence meant quality.

Shouldn't there be some sort of mercy rule! This was kind of a no brainer though, the amount of iconic characters Harrison Ford has portrayed is staggering.

This afternoon I looked at Ford's filmography between 1980 and 1989... It has to be one of the most impressive filmography of the decade.
10 films, not one bad. Most of them even iconic.
I mean, lok at it :
The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Indiana Jones trilogy, Blade Runner, Witness, The Mosquito Coast, Frantic, Working Girl.
Great taste of movies. Which brings the question... what the heck happened to Ford's judgement ??? How come he stopped picking the best movies ? Too bad...

It's not his judgment i don't think. When people get older they just tend to cash-in. It's sad, but true. Hell, look at Ben Kingsely, he has The Love Guru, The Last Legion, and BloodRayne on his recent resume.

This is the 70s and 80s poll NSpan, I can forgive Arnie ventures into poorly punned absurdities during the 90s.....

I voted for Arnie since I'd say his work was more significant but neither of them have really wowed me with their acting chops. I don't favor either of their chances to survive the second round.

I need another vote for one of these guys. I left it and the 50's/60's up since that was close too.

If this one doesn't get them roped in, I don't know what will. This is obviously the biggest first round matchup imaginable as either actor could go on to win the entire tournament. The 70's is stacked and the next two matchups should be good as well.

How the hell is Al "I Only Have One Character" Pacino beating out Robert "Brilliant, Effortless Characterizations" Duvall in a best actor poll? Well, I guess best and favorite are interchangeable as their both subjective anyway. Still kinda sad though.

Re: Actor Madness (1970's & 80's)(DeNiro WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Well, I think Pacino was a great actor once- with roles in The Godfather, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, etc. He even surprised me with his restraint in The Insider.
Duvall also never had a defining role, so he's not in media consciousness as much.

Re: Actor Madness (1970's & 80's)(DeNiro WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
I mean don't get me wrong, I love Al Pacino too. But he always plays a cool collected guy who just explodes and starts yelling for absolutely no reason every now and then.
Duvall just defines, to me anyway, what an actor should be. He's honest and real, but he's not at the same time.
