Ooh, choosing between Boll and Friedberg/Seltzer. Damn, how can one possibly choose?
Re: 2008 Razzies
I've only seen The Wackness and The clone Wars. To be honest, I don't blame Kinsley for The Wackness, I blame the script.

I don't like all of the hate for The Happening, although did expect it. I thought there were far worse movies to put in there, though.

Besides Run Fat Boy Run, it was the worst movie I saw in theatres last year (The Clone Wars included).

Re: 2008 Razzies
I don't like that they have an actor and list every movie that actor was in that year. Just because 88 Minutes was supposed to be bad, why is Al Pacino listed as the WORST ACTOR OF THE YEAR for multiple movies?

I don't think they have just listed every movie the actor was in for that year, I think they have been nominated for multiple bad performances.

Re: 2008 Razzies
Note that Burt Reynolds wasn't listed for his role in Delgo.
And Al Pacino really wasn't bad in those films. Sure he may have been slumming it, but they weren't bad performances by any means (in fact, the films in question weren't even bad films). If they wanted to nominate someone, it should have been Dane Cook. I mean, does anyone find him a good actor?
I also found Ben Kingsley entertaining playing against-type in The Wackness. Having him play a drug-addicted therapist married to Famke Janssen and shouting things like "The DL!" was very nice.

Re: 2008 Razzies
Well, I'm a bit lost by the reasoning for The Razzies nominations in the first place. Either nominate the ABSOLUTE worst movies and actors of the year, or nominate actors and directors who you would normally expect to do something decent, but put in a decidedly dodgy performance. I don't see the point of picking and choosing.

As bad as The Spirit was, there were far worse films to nominate.

Re: 2008 Razzies
It's not Kate Hudson's fault she's always typecast. Granted, My Best Friend's Girl was disappointing (not enough Alec Baldwin usage) and I didn't see Fool's Gold, but I think the nominees this year (and to some extent every year) are a mix of actual bad performances and roles that the people who make the noms are just tired of seeing. Same reason 'The Happening' is up there, because they probably just don't like M. Night. I didn't see the movie, but there had to have been worse films than that.

It's also not Kate Hudson's fault that she isn't funny. Her mother was and her stepfather is an dark way (Snake Plissken! Stuntman Mike! Gabriel Cash!) but she isn't funny.
Blame Hollywood.

I saw it. It was the worst movie I've seen in years and certainly worthy of a Razzie. I haven't seen anything else on this list though, so they may be even worse.
Re: 2008 Razzies
The one film that I'm surprised got snubbed: An American Carol. A propaganda piece starring a bunch of actors who've had better days and only got a theatrical release so to get people to vote for McCain. Obviously, the gambit didn't work. Also, the film (along with Disaster Movie and Meet The Spartans) helped kill the spoof genre. The critics hated it, most audiences avoided it, it was a perfect candidate. But it's surprising not to see it nominated for anything, not even for Worst Remake/Sequel/Ripoff/Spinoff or whatever it's called.

But there's nothing as cliched as trying to derive humour from someone who is high. He was a caricature, not a character, and it ruined the authenticity of the main character.

Re: 2008 Razzies
I can't believe I'm going to say this, but Paris Hilton wasn't actually all that bad in 'Repo: The Genetic Opera.' I think she's been nominated because, well, she's Paris Hilton ahead of any other consideration.
Did my film watching creds just get revoked? *lol*

Re: 2008 Razzies
No. Other people who saw Repo liked Hilton's performance. From what I read (haven't seen the film yet), it may have been because her role was entirely sung instead of acted.
