April-June Arthouse Picks
Without Chien's presence, I've had a hard time picking small arthouse films that you need if you want to win. I have gone 2 for my last three (Sunshine, 12, Sin Nombre), but the April-June season gives me hell with this. Any clues?

I like the PTA and UR chances of The Limits of Control, Jim Jarmusch has a decent following and it should fare pretty well with very little competition. Also, Gigantic and Lymelife should be decent picks, although the plethora of pretentious Garden State clones are getting on my nerves.

Re: April-June Arthouse Picks
April is looking like slim pickings.
Gigantic, Sugar, and The Escapist seem okay for a once and done sort of deal.
Next week has Lymelife which should fare pretty well. I like Anvil! to take the 2nd place though. From what i have seen from it, it seems like one doesn't even have to know about Rock or Anvil to be able to appreciate the human drama of aging rockers. However, I think Hannah takes both Top 5 and PTA title.
The week after, Every Little Step and Lemon Tree look like the heavy hitters but I think both of them will only be a once and done sort of deal.
Last weekend of April is very interesting. Earth should put up decent PTA then there is Tyson and The Informers. My favorite to win the weekend is Tyson but Earth will defintely have good legs and help BO wise.
May starts of off hot. Limits of Control should stick around for a while.
The week after, the top star is Adoration, but my intuition is not liking the leg quality on this one, especially since competition ramps up.
Angels and Demons weekend is next and that has Brothers Bloom and O'Horten. The pick here is Bloom since it goes wide on Up weekend.
Memorial Day comes and we have Steven Soderberg's Girlfriend Experience and the "The Importance of Being Earnest" comedy Easy Virtue. I don't like any either of them to survive past opening weekend.
Last weekend of May, we have possible PTA giant, Departures that won the Best Foreign Language film. And that's about it. ( Need to add to leagues!)
First weekend of June we've got Sam Medes' new film, Away We Go. Looks to be another prestige PTA pick.
Next weekend, Sam Rockwell starrer, Moon is my favorite, even though Francis Ford Coppola is releasing Tetro. I think Coppola lost some of his luster with the mess of film called Youth without Youth.
Whatever Works is another PTA Giant. Woody Allen got his groove back with VCB. Of note, Possible Oscar bait film, Cheri moved away from it. It is also the only arthouse film released that weekend.
Then Transformers 2 is released which would put a damper on many smaller films, however both The Hurt Locker and Cheri are down there. I think Transformers 2 would have taken the weekend PTA if it was released on Fri, but lickily for Hurt Locker and Cheri it is released on Wednesday, leaving the door slightly ajar.

April should have a few one week and done PTA picks like jacko said. As for the summer months, you have to remember, the blockbusters usually take the PTA. There are very few smaller releases that actually get a lot of PTA

Re: April-June Arthouse Picks
The best advice I can give you: Stay active and check theater counts every week. There is no way that we can tell now what is gong to rake in PTA points in June. We can't even tell for this weekend. Watch for the theater counts when they come out, and leave yourself options.
Re: April-June Arthouse Picks
Does no one else like Little Ashes chances? I know it got bumped (usually not good), but I think that Robert Pattersons (sp?) on a roll right now b/c of the Twilight series. I would think the 18-25 female crowd would be all over this one (I know they are usually not the arthouse crowd, but an exception might be made here). Also, many 'arthouse' types would want to see a movie about Salvador Dali, in my opinion. If it would have come out as planned last weekend it would have been better, but I still think it can hold it's own on the 8th.

I don't like it's chances. It seems more like a rushed mockery, then an actual existential piece. http://hollywood-elsewhere.com/2009/03/saints_protect_1.php

Tokyo! was already released and it already raked in PTA on its first weekend NSpan. I wish I had played it in the game.
