THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
Well, not really, but.
I have a rock and roll almanac, listing every Top 100 hit (on multiple charts) from 1955 up to 1996. I have been going through it, letter by letter, for the last few months, playing every song that I can find on YouTube. And I have found so much good stuff, it's unbelievable. (And I'm only up to the letter E!)
I skip over a lot of the 50's and 60's, along with most country and rap (unless I KNOW for a fact that I like that group/singer). And I just got to thinking. What are you guys listening to?
So here's the deal, plug in a YouTube video if there's a song you love and want to share with the rest of the Fantaverse. The only rule is: not more than one per day, please, and nothing too graphic.
Here's one that I rediscovered recently, and I forgot how much I loved it:
Dave Edmunds - Slipping Away (1983)

I don't listen to a lot of rap, but I just discovered Nappy Roots came back after 5 years. Here is one of their singles, "Good Day."

Note to all: if you can plug in a YouTube video of the songs you pick, that would be great. Here's how:
1. Click on the "Video" icon (it's the one that looks like a filmstrip).
2. Click on "YouTube" (this will bring up YouTube in a separate window).
3. IMPORTANT! Cut and paste the address of the video you want to post, NOT the embed code.
My choice for Saturday, November 29th:
Dire Straits - The Bug (1992) - great, catchy song!

Amzing how much is on there, isn't it Shryke?
As Tranny and Donte can attest, I've been running a daily Youtube newsletter for months. Everyday I send out one video of 80's hard gold, be it hair metal, sleaze rock or something Southern. My time frame is '79-'92. This past week we listened to Queensryche, Kiss, Extreme, Fastway, The Scorpions, Motley Crue and Accept. Contemporary videos when I can find them, album cuts, live or fan vids if I can't. If anyone else out there is interested in receiving 'The Daily Metal,' feel free to respond here in the thread with your e-mail, or send me your e-mail via P.M.
Great comedy from Autograph. These guys would have been a riot to party with. And it depresses me that I, Shryke, Donte, Nico, Synestro and Keyser are probably the only ones on here who were alive when the video was made

May have been alive, but definitely wasn't listening to.
This is a little more my taste. A semi sober, solo Paul Westerberg doing one of my all time favorite Replacements tunes, an ode to stewardesses everywhere:

Nappy Roots is from my neck of the woods. Autograph...laughing about that one. I've been listening to a lot of 10 Years lately. If you're a fan of Maynard then you'll probably appreciate the vocals.

A brilliant song that twists the typical bitches-n-homies MTV video on its head.

Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
I'm still on the letter "E", so I have to do another one from that letter.
I grew up in the 80s. I'm not gay (and that shouldn't make a difference), but Erasure has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. No matter how long I go without listening to them, I always, ALWAYS come back to them, and end up loving them even more than before. Guilty pleasure, my ass, their music is REALLY GOOD. Some think it's cheesy crap, and they may not be wrong, but I love it. Happy, spriightly and schmaltzy, yet with kick-ass rhythms that make an old fat white guy get up and dance. So they're gay. Big deal.
Here's my video pick for Sunday, November 30th, a video that I never knew existed until today:
Erasure - Don't Say You Love Me (excellent sound quality)

Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
Under-rated and sadly gone Canadian band 'Doug and the Slugs.' These guys were priceless and they had a great sense of humour. Doug Bennett was the lead singer and they were active right up until his death in 2004, a sad day for music loving Canadians. This wasn't their best song, but it is their catchiest and if the video doesn't make you laugh... well, I don't know what to tell you. Better check yourself for a pulse. I might put some more up tomorrow.

Re: THE MUSIC OF THE FANTAVERSE - THE EXTENDED TOUR
Excellent choices from both Numbersix and Shryke.
The Anton Corbijn directed Joy Division video was phenomenol (As was the film Control). Both were great tributes to the late Ian Curtis although the film did differ a good bit from the book
And Shryke, boy, I sure hope liking Erasure doesn't make you gay, or Christina and I need to have a real talk. We're both huge Erasure fans. We ventured up to NYC to see them at the Beacon Theater a few years ago, and what a show. Andy Bell started out the show in a full on Victorian ball Gown and then began peeling away pieces as the show went on. By the time they reached the encores, he was pretty much down to a thong and a garter belt.
A nice lttle pick me up for a dreary Sunday morning:

I found this earlier this year. It incorporates A Perfect Circle's The Noose with vidoe clips from The Shawshank Redemption. I think it's done brilliantly.
Herbie Hancock's Rocket is a classic Buscemi. Good call.

Here's a wonderful segment from Baraka, with music from Dead Can Dance (you may notice that the music was used quite well in The Mist).
