I saw Brick there for $3 but I don't find that film worth owning. A forgettable, overambitious and overlong experience, I say.

Bowfinger was an entertaining satire on low-budget filmmaking and how people will do anything for a buck. Steve Martin was very funny in it (his best roles usually seem to be when he plays characters in the entertainment industry, such as this and Grand Canyon).

While I haven't seen either of the two, I have heard good things about both of them. Plus, $3 isn't that big of an investment in their quality, although I guess I could've rented them from Blockbuster for $.99 each.

I guess it doesn't really matter, since I'll probably never get around to watching them.

I really want to see the original Last House on The Left before I see the remake tomorrow. So I goes to Blockbuster to rent it - they don't even carry it! So I ended up renting Cube since I've been dying to see that ever since I heard about it via these Internets years ago. (Then I looked for Oldboy since I've never seen that - Blockbuster doesn't carry it!)

Yeah, Blockbuster is shit when it comes to anything that is not a new release. I gave up on that place long ago. Anyways, if you have Comcast, the original Last House is available for free on FEARnet OnDemand. I really liked it actually. 9/10. I actually think I might go see this new one in theaters.

I loved the original Last House. A friend of mine watched a sneak preview of the remake last weekend and her quote was "Holy shit that was intense!" which sounds like a good review. I am pretty interested in this remake as well. I just hope it is a better remake than Funny Games...

Did your friend see the original, Donte? There's no way it can be as crazy as the original... I'm sure they won't make a girl pee her pants...or the blowjob scene...

And I thought Funny Games was pretty awesome...

Yeah, I think it's going to play more like 'Taken' rather then the hardcore badassery and grotesquery in the original. I blame the FCC.

Not exactly a purchase, but I did manage to find my copy of Love Stinks that I thought was lost forever. It was in my g'f's messy-as-shit apartment, which luckily she is moving out of and that's how she found it. Apparently, it was under her bed? confused

I guess that she was trying to protect the monster that is French Stewart from the world?

On Friday I got these through two 3 for $10's at Entertainmart (of which I've mentioned before):

Ghost In The Shell (special edition)
Walk The Line (2-disc special edition)
The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951, 2-disc special edition)
World Trade Center (2-disc special edition)
Napoleon Dynamite (special edition)
The Princess Bride (Dread Pirate Edition)

With all of these special editions available for so cheap, it felt like Christmas!

No she never did. She had emailed me when she found out she got to see the advance screening and asked if I had seen the original. I said "of course it was fucking great but very very disturbing and violent."

She gets her list of horror movies to see from me and her horror knowledge is missing a lot of the smaller (read; not famous) older horror films. BUT with her favorite horror movie being the original TCM, I am pretty psyched to hear from her that the new Last House on the Left is good.

Re: The DVD Thread

First of all, I actually liked World Trade Center (in fact, I like most of Oliver Stone's films with the exception of Any Given Sunday*). And second, it was the two-disc version and that usually retails for $30.

They also had the two-disc One From The Heart (Coppola goes experimental) but I didn't get it.

*- Any Given Sunday was bad. You think with a great cast and a just as great director, you would have the ultimate football epic. Instead you get an unrealistic and unbelievable movie made by people who don't know football and starring actors who've had better days, such as Pacino, Dennis Quaid, Jamie Foxx, Matthew Modine and many others. And even though the DVD release is six minutes shorter than the version shown in theatres, the film stills feels twice as long.

5 dollars per disc then???

LOL

I like most of Ollie's work too but I only made it about 30 minutes into WTC before I had to go vomit up breakfast from when I was 12. It was terrible and is all things that are wrong with bad film, especially when it capitalizes on dead people. He should stick to movies about famous dead people.

I agree with the Any Given Sunday assessment, Busc. Never saw WTC, but I do like most all of Stone's films (and I've seen most).

I want to see One From the Heart, if only because the soundtrack is by Tom Waits.

I meant that the DVD usually retails for $30. I got it for $3.33 (when you divide $20 by six).

It would be a profit but no thanks.

However if I come across some DVD's of Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet The Spartans and Disaster Movie, you can burn those with some really bad alcohol (Does Jagermeister burn well?) and a flame thrower.
