On the trip to Chicago, my brother said this was completely original because they used a symphony:

I said to check this out (plus a few other songs including Ray Charles' "Georgia on My Mind"):

Kinda reminds me of the South Park "The Simpsons Did It" episode, except with the Beatles.

I love Bittersweet Symphony. Always have. Great song, Dubya.

Well that symphonic part of Bittersweet Symphony was written by Keith Richards and used illegally by The Verve. They were successfully sued by the Stones.

Still a great song even if it isn't the first time a symphony was used in a rock song. LOL

Heard this song in a bar while playing poker on Sunday, and now I can't get it out of my head. Classic Cash prison song.

A song that's both hopeful and depressing at the same time.

I heart Crowded House. I have their greatest hits CD... 19 songs, and I adore 18 of them. (Sorry, "Something So Strong" never did it for me.) "Don't Dream It's Over" is a classic.

I really enjoy Crowded Houses music as well. Eventhough that song came out a year before i was born, it's still one of the first ones that i REALLY liked and repeatedly listened to.

Actually, i think at some point my 1-2 combo was Don't Dream It's Over and Everybody Wants to Rule the World (yes.. that's right Tears for Fears, don't hold it against me, i've changed!).

Speaking of, here it is:

My favorite George Jones song is "He Stopped Loving Her Today," (ranked #2 when CMT did their 100 Greatest Country Songs) but I don't think many people here could get through it. So, here's "The One I Loved Back Then," or as most people know it as "The Corvette Song."

Count me in as another fan of The House. Never got the chance to see them back in the day, but over the last couple of years was able to see The Finn Brothers. Then last year, they decided to a tour of the US. The wife and I flew to Chicago to see them at The House of Blues, and by a long string of coincidences, we actually got to go backstage after the show and meet the band. Neil Finn has to be on any list of the best singer/songwriters of the 80's/90's.

They also had the great idea of burning CD's right off the soundboard and having them for sale at the end of the show. Nice little souvenir to take home from a concert.

The video for Everybody Wants to Rule the World is what made me decide to go out and buy my first two seater convertable

My contribution for today is

The Alarm with Rain in the Sumemrtime

They were actually sued by the Rolling Stones for ripping off "This may be the last time", and The Verve was forced to pay them royalties.
