OMFG! I was about to pop in "Mongol" and Malcolm in the Middle was on. I've never been a big fan and Frankie Muniz is one of the worst celebrities on the face of the Earth... Anyways, I hear a voice on the show and say "Hey, I know that voice." Then it comes again and rings a bell, "It's Bryan f'ing Cranston, last year's Emmy winner and star of the greatest f'ing show on TV right now, Breaking Bad," I think. Then I look at the dad on Malcolm's face and realize its him. I'm thinking, "Is that really him?!? This great performance came from THAT GUY?" So obviously I HAVE TO IMDB it... So I sign on (takes forever) and find out that I'm right. Now I'm telling you all about this and I have probably wasted 15 minutes. I'll probably fall asleep during Mongol and either have to rent it again, try and watch an hour of it with a kid jumping on me, or get hit with late fees.

This is why I need my own sub-forum you punks! Random thoughts...

I thought it was common knowledge that Malcolm's dad is a meth dealer on AMC and Malcolm's mom is a judge on TNT....

For most people (on this board, not the average American to be sure), I'm sure it is. I never really watched Malcolm, except for a few times, I knew that "That 70's Show's" Hyde and the older brother on Malcolm were brothers. I didn't even know there WAS a Breaking Bad until the second season started. The mom hasn't changed a bit. The dad on the show went from this:

to this...

So, yeah... I was kinda shocked when I realized it.

Malcolm's mom was Judge Harm on The Simpsons.

Meanwhile, I've rewatched these lately:

House Party- this is pretty much if Spike Lee directed Ferris Bueller's Day Off. But still one of the better coming of age tales of the era.
Only The Strong- the capoeira movie. If you wanted to, you could call it Bloodsport 3: The Final Battle but with Dacascos in the Van Damme role. But it's still a good time killer.
Last Resort- terrible comedy from the writers of the teen classic Revenge Of The Nerds. What were Charles Grodin, John Ashton, Jon Lovitz and Phil Hartman thinking when they signed on to this one?
Raising Cain- The Seven Faces Of Dr. Lao but directed by Brian De Palma and starring John Lithgow. The movie is one of the strangest of the 1990's but Lithgow was great in his five roles and is worth watching solely for him.
Trespass- Bill Paxton vs. Ice-T in a turf war over a hidden stash of gold. It could have been bad but it works due to a screenplay co-written by Robert Zemeckis and the direction of Walter Hill. Also, Steven Spielberg was an uncredited producer on it which has this small urban thriller even more interesting.
Sudden Death- when I was 14, I thought this was one of the better Van Damme vehicles. Now I think this may be one of the best bad movies ever made. The film's story and acting are basically crap but that seems to be part of the fun. Not surprisingly, this was initally written as a spoof of over-the-top action films and sports movies before being heavily rewritten (possibly at the insistance of the then-owners of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who produced the film).

Please don't scold me, Keyzer.

My favorite Van Damme film (for some reason) has always been Lionheart.

Boosh - You got it toally right. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if the rewrites were actulally done by Howard Baldwin himself. These would be the same owners that drove the Penguins into bankruptcy and changed our logo from the classic one we're using again today to the Partridge Family looking one we had during those god awful years. (That horrid logo was designed by the owner's wife who somehow mysteriously won the "Design the new Penguins' logo contest)

Nothing better in that film than watching JCVD and Iceburgh, the Penguins mascot go at it

The JCVD/Icee (as the little girl called the penguin) fight scene was the only sequence from the original script to appear in the final film. I would love to find that script to read sometime. It sounds interesting as the only thing that could make Sudden Death better is more comedy and more ridiculousness.

I actually used Iceburgh in the proposal to Mrs. Keyser. Got the ring to him before a game, and he brought it up to our seats during the game. Never once dawned on me that I had given a diamond ring to a complete and total stranger whose face I had never seen. Was pretty sure if I saw him driving home in a new car after the game that I would have known where the ring went. The soon to be Mrs. Keyser looked like a deer in headlights because she had no idea it was coming and suddenly this giant seven foot tall flightless bird wass waving a ring in her face.

That's a good laugh. I probably would have had the same expression, except I probably would have been more confused.

Yeah, all you would have to do is tell management that their mascot stole your ring. That is unless they use multiple people to play him per night or there's someone dressed up as that penguin to get into the arena free/steal rings from unsuspecting fans.

I rented both JCVD and World Trade Center and can't decide which one to watch first.

Any suggestions?
