Rush Hour $2.99
L.A. Confidential (2-disc with bonus CD) $5.99

From Blockbuster:
Death Sentence (Unrated)
Notes From A Scandal
Bug
Bobby (Blockbuster Exclusive Edition)
Deliver Us From Evil
Rescue Dawn
Total: $20 (two "3 for $10" deals)

From Best Buy:

Up In Smoke (Special Edition) $6.99
Knocked Up (Unrated 2-disc) $6.99- marked down from $24.99

From Target:
Commando (Director's Cut) $5.50
Speed (Special Edition) $5.50
Robocop (20th Anniversary Edition) $5.50

I was kind of hoping this would work but it doesn't look like it.

Meanwhile, here is my (incomplete) listing of owned DVD's:

I hope that everyone shares their DVD's as well.

Nip/Tuck (S1 & 2)
Coupling (S1-3)

Movies (no particular order):
Hackers
Gia
Life or Something Like it
Girl, Interrupted
Taking Lives
300
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Little Black Book
Office Space
High Fidelity
Serendipity
Chocolat
Sleepy Hollow
Batman Begins
Swing Kids
Once
Romeo + Juliet
10 Things I Hate About You
Final Fantasy: Advent Children
Titan AE
The Holiday
Love Actually

I recently was given The Dark Knight and Prince Caspian on Blu-Ray. Another friend gave me TDK in standard dvd too, so I gave that one away. I've been meaning to get Wanted. Oh and I was also given Friends Season 4.

I'll list my collection later, but im sure that it'll be one of the smaller collections here.

I got a blu-ray for xmas, so started buying some of those...I got The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford for xmas, then bought The Aviator and Letters from Iwo Jima after, and currently have Unforgiven coming via Amazon. I also got the standard DVD's for Once, The Films of Kenneth Anger Vol. 2, and Possible Films: The Short Films of Hal Hartley.

Looking to get Natural Born Killers on Blu-ray, but so far they only have the regular edition and no directors cut available, so I may wait...

The only movies I buy (or ask for) on DVD are movies I give a (high) 9 or a 10, which only amounts to four or five titles per year.

For Xmas, I got Wall-E and Dark Knight, will soon be getting Eagle Eye, and am contemplating getting Horton Hears a Who and Death Race.

My wife got Mamma Mia! AND made me sit through it. Oh, my heads...

Hmm, maybe we should create a separate thread for our favourite DVD extra.

anyway, I had a spreadsheet of my DVDs but my PC died two weeks ago. While I'm waiting for it to be fixed, for Christmas I got the following

Life of Brian 2-disc edition (Finally!)
Lust, Caution
Ed Wood
Sunset Boulevaard
The Stanley Kubrick Remastered Collection (I had them all already but wanted the cool extras)

My partner is away for the holidays so I'm expecting some more dvd delights shortly

For Christmas I received from Santa:

8mm
The Apartment
Blade Runner (5 Disc Ultimate Edition)
Insomnia (the original)
The League Of Gentlemen Series 2
Panic Room
The Postman Always Rings Twice
A Room For Romeo Brass
The United States Of Leland

Dammit I was sure I was gonna get TDK. Have to go out and get it myself now.... Damn you Santa. Damn you to hell!!!! santa

By the way, I have issued a rule for entering my house. Anybody who utters the words Mamma Mia, or sings one note, is formally kicked out on their ass. I have been shining my shoes in anticipation.

I usually keep this list with me at all times because you never know when you're going to find a good bargain and I hate it when I can't remember if I own a DVD or not.

I rarely pay more than $10 for a DVD, and when I see DVDs for $5 or less I often take a chance on movies I haven't seen, which helps explain a few movies I'm slighty embarressed to admit I own.

Atonement
A Perfect World
A Shot In The Dark
Airplane!
Alien Nation
An American Werewolf In London
Barton Fink
Batman Begins
Beyond The Sea
Big
Blood Work
Body Heat
Bugsy
Bull Durham
Catch Me If You Can
Charlotte Gray
Constantine
Dark City
Dark Water
De-Lovely
Diamonds Are Forever
Dragonslayer
Edward Scissorhands
Eight Men Out
Election
Fargo
Fatal Attraction
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Four Weddings And A Funeral
From Russia With Love
Godfather 1 & 2
Hitchcock Thrillers (x3)
Hot Shots!
I, Robot
Into The Night
L.A. Story
Larry Sanders Show: Season 1
Lord Of The Rings: Extended Trilogy
Margaret's Museum
Master & Commander
Mean Streets
Misery
Missippi Burning
Monty Python: Life Of Brian
Monty Python: Life Of Python
Monty Python: Live!
Monty Python: The Meaning Of Life
Moonraker
Munich
No Way Out
Open Water
Outland
Punch
Quiz Show
Raging Bull
Rob Roy

Re: The DVD Thread

Post by Buscemi on Tue Dec 30, 2008 9:26 am

I was going to get the five-disc Blade Runner from Best Buy but they only had the four-disc so I got what I ended up getting.

So my latest purchases:

At Big Lots:
Hellboy: Director's Cut (three-disc) $3.00 (yes, I found an out-of-print set that usually costs at least $30 for $3.00)
An American Werewolf In London (Special Edition) $3.00
Action: The Complete Series $3.00 (I really liked this show when it first aired and it sucks that Fox didn't ever give it a chance)

At Target:
Spaceballs (Special Edition) $5.50
The Full Monty (Special Edition) $5.50
The Commitments (Special Edition) $5.50
Family Guy Volume 6 $14.99

And I think my spending spree is at a close. Until the next big sale of used DVD's and rare titles at low prices comes around.

That sounds interesting. One of my favourite underrated directors.

I have been meaning to get around to listing all my DVDs for ages. You have just given me a reason to actually DO IT. Thanks Buscemi. Give me a little bit of time and I'll post. In the meantime the DVDs I was given for Xmas were :-
Sweeney Todd : The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street (movie only - no extras at all Sad Mad )
Spiderman 3 - 2 disc edition (truthfully speaking it was the kids who got this, but we keep a family collection - we don't separate ownership of DVDs in our family)
Saw IV
The Dead Zone - Season 1

Watched the first 2 so far.

Well, I haven't paid a cent on any of the previous dvds, and got this for Christmas, so I'm not out of pocket. I'd been waiting for years for this release, and I'm very pleased to finally have it.

I'll try to get around to posting my dvds on here, but I have around about 400 dvds here in NZ, with probably a similar amount still back in the UK. I can't remember exactly what titles I have back in the UK though....
