And now we are hit with a real tragedy...

Post by geezer9687 on Mon Jun 29, 2009 5:15 am

Billy Mays, the greatest Pitch Man of all time, has passed. He was 50. What a worldwide tragedy. I am so heartbroken right now. Whoever thought we were safe was clearly mistaken.... Sad

What was the cause of death?

I actually read the story on the Internet. It sounds similar to the way that Natasha Richardson died earlier this year, except instead of a skiing accident his head injury came from a rough plane landing.

In short, he most likely suffered a head injury and died from internal bleeding as a result. Earlier in the day, Mays didn't feel any effects of what happened (similar to Richardson) but the effects probably occurred later (also similar to Richardson and many other victims of head injuries) and it's possible he fell into a coma that he never got out of.

Hell, I thought Shryke died or something. Put this in this in the obituaries next time... LOL. I'm sorry he's dead, but he came off as a real jerk on his "Pitchmen" show. I wish it were the ShamWow guy instead... That guy deserved it much more.

Billy Mays deserves his own thread.

I'm just as puzzled. And I have to say, as insensitive as this may sound, we really need to cool it a little with these celebrity death memorials. They're just people, like any of us. And one thing that happens to all people no matter who they are or what they do for a living is death. All of a sudden the washed up weirdo pedophile musician who everyone loved to hate and the annoying Oxyclean guy are being revered as if just a few weeks ago everyone wasn't ceaselessly making offensive inaproppriate jokes about them. I'm not talking this site in particular, I'm just saying in general. It's sad, yeah. Death is a sad thing, but it's not like we knew them personally, no matter how much we might feel like we did.

I don't remember people ever not liking Billy Mays, Ipkiss. But the thing was that he was just 50 and it was so random.

Wait...you guys are serious? I couldn't fucking stand those commercials! Not only was he annoying as shit in those commercials, He's selling shit no one needs, and honestly at 50, he's accomplished more than some friends of mine I have lost over the past few years who never even got to drink legally in a bar, so I'm sympathetic as the next guy, but within reason and relativity.

You do realize that he gets to choose what he advertises because if he likes a product, all he has to do is ask and he will get the job advertising for them, because commercials with him just sell better than any other commercial that company could come up with.

That makes him no less annoying to me. Actually, maybe the exact opposite.
